DMOZ Category Depth

How much might the depth of dmoz category affect SERPS?

Hi guys,

There has been some consolidation in my DMOZ category and i've moved backwards by one level.

There are now only subcategories where my site used to be, and all the sites have moved into the various subcategories.

I would assume this would have some effect on my google PR, but then because everyone else has moved as well I hope it won't be too severe an effect.

Any thoughts?

madweb,
same thing has happened to me. I'm assuming that the pagerank of the new cat you are in is lower than before.

Maybe we're in the same cat!

If your site has been moved to a cat with less outbound links and similar PageRank, you win a bit. If your site has been moved to a page with more outbound links and similar Page Rank you loose a bit.

Same logic in Page Rank variations. The lesser links and the more Page Rank on page transfers more of it.
