Google PR from an ad box?

There are web pages that are quite popular...8 PR rank...

At the bottom, there is an ad box with 9 direct URL text links with a short description KW phrase for each one.

One of those links has been offered to me.

My question is, does Google pick those up as text links and pass the pr boost or is it considered an ad space and not given the same boost as, say, a text link in a side bar or at the top?

As long they are direct links, yes. A link is a link.
