If you are talking about your primary site, it won't hurt. The ODP links should make it so it will definitely help. The name 'linking chain' sounds a bit scary though. The fact that all your smaller sites are in the ODP is a bit scary also. Hopefully, they are related to primary.com as well as secondary.com but that is the scary part ODP wise.
I would defer to what Chef_Brian said [webmasterworld.com] almost a year ago. Congrats on getting them all in.

thank you Powdork for your answer.

i just wanted to make things more clear: all my sites which are in the ODP are very realated to the directory they are in (all in the same directory), and are very realated to the secondnary.com and the primary.com too (they index 1 level up directory then the smallers sites).

i made the "link chain" becuase i need to move traffic to my smaller site, not the get higher PR (all my site rank very high in google, thanks to you guys!).

so my question is, is there any chance google will see it as a spam and i should change the links to JS link so google won't be able to read them?

thanx again.

I wouldn't so much be concerned what Google thinks as dmoz. Even if you change the links to js what you are describing sounds like a way to get a lot of dmoz links from what really should be one domain. If dmoz pulls the pages then you're Google ranking is likely to suffer.
Also, standard js may not be enough anymore for Google. I recommend putting the js link in a robots.txt protected file.

One of my customers has a similar situation. He has 10 sites, all in a related industry with different content.
He was wondering if it would be ok to link all 10 sites together from a links page, or would that be considered a link farm?

I'll have to call Chef Brian and let him know he is being quoted!

I'll be calling collect!

I can't see any reason why the ODP woun't like it. all the site are for diffrent companies which have a diffrent site with a diffrent information. it just that all the companies are marketing the same kind of product.

I think i'll keep it that way and hope noone will care about it....

PS

can the ODP make the connections between all the sites by them selfs?

Wait a minute... I thought from reading alot of posts here and other places... that this was a big no no.... "linking alot of your own sites together to raise PR"

I think its ok as described. If Morrison were to also be linking the fifteen smaller sites together as well their might be a problem. As described above there is no reciprocal linking, much less cross linking.
I think your danger with the ODP would come from a competitor turning you in.

Powdork,

the question is: have i done anything "illegal" here?

can't i get my clients sites index in the ODP just becuase i built all the sites? after all this is not realy fair for my client.

I'm certainly not saying you did anything illegal. I took from your first post and the first post of your thread last year that you had created these pages to spam dmoz for pr, which happens.
The question is whether you feel the sites in the category will survive an edit from a meta editor who will know the history including who submitted each site. And it depends largely on whether your competitors are on their toes enough to report you. They rarely are.

what happened year ago is that i put 1 page on my site that have nothing to do with my site.

the reason i put it is just because i wanted ppl to read the information i put there. i didn't ask the ODP to add this page. i was very surprised to see this page in the ODP.

then i ask about adding more pages on my main site and try to add them, but finely i decided not to do it.

what i'm talking about now is diffrent sites for diffrent companies who market the same kind of products.

i can't see any reason why the meta editor would mind indexing all the sites, after all, this directry created for sites under this subject.

and for the last part, i don't think my competitors are "on their toes", i don't even think they know dmoz exist ;o)
