I have a website which has backlink from a dmoz category which has PR9 but my site only has PR7?
It should have PR8 shouldn't it?

Not if there are lots of links in the category. PR is spread between links on the page therefore you are getting a smaller piece of the pie.

and it may be a low pr9 and you now have a high pr7....id be thankful for that personally..seeing as its the result of a single link..theres people out there begging and stealing links and getting pr6 with a couple of thousand backlinks!....

WHAT ODP category that has listed sites is PR9? The ODP home page is PR9.

djgreg,

Off topic:

Just checked your profile and the site list has a PR3, Maybe your note helped... Or it was just not a penialty at all.

I can't see the logic of Low PR v High PR, if you obtain a PR link PR9, with one/two links on the page, you should get a PR8.

It makes no difference if it is high PR9 or low PR9, you will end up with low PR8 or high PR8?

IMHO relevance of links plays an important part. I do know many disagree.

But I do know many sites are now selling "text links"

Some are new with very few links out, before you part with money, check the PR carry over.

The latest site/page I found offering links is PR8, the cost is $1000 per month, so far it seems relevant links PR does carry over, ie PR7.

Yet the none relevant links, Viagra etc stuff loses two or even three points, PR5/6.
The site in question has 5 links on the page.

What I'm saying is a PR8 link does look tempting, but you probably will end up with a PR5 or even less, a complete waste of money. You need to be on topic for big buck links.

Or a sole link

Oops sory no relevance to the original Q, but while I'm here what is the DMOZ cat with a PR9?

There isn't one, is there?

If there is, you have won the lottery

rfgdxm1:
yes now the ODP has 9 but some months ago it had a 10. And in the google directory where the site is listed too has a PR9. So I should receive a PR8 from them.

FleaPit:
There are about 15 links in the category.

CCowboy:
It is obviously not the site in my profile which I meant ;-)
