In the catagory that I list at #3 at the moment on all 8 data centers and www, www2 and www3 a site hits at #1 and #2. I have linked with this site. But the problem is this site has a directory of links only with areas that list whats hot today, this month and whats new. The site looks like it is suppose to have alot of information in its industry but none of the navigation text are linked only the directories link. I have tried to notify the site. I even tried a domian search and got a phone #. That did not work. My? is does Google allow a site that looks unfinished but continues to update its directory?

Yes no problem, google always finds the most relevant search queries
It is quite easy to get page 1 for "site under construction"

Or "latest news"

Google does not know what is latest news, for example, it would be quite simple to create a site

Latest news
Japan bombs Pearl Harbour 9 May 2003 etc etc

Search queries are the problem, not google's

Thanks. The only way I could tell it is at #1 isthe Key phrase is in the titles of the links. I think it is just a matter of updates to change and it will fall back down. I am not a pro at this but I am learning more form this site. Thanks again.

Titles will play a part but they must be comlimentary with the body text, so you must utilize the date.

It is not easy get up-to-minute info on a website which google will see and implement "live" quickly.

Even top news organizations are 4/5 hrs "late"

News items on google, generally go behind the headlines and readers can get a more in-depth view.

Which is what many people want.

If you are looking for "not top stories" your site may enjoy greater success.

It is not a news site. It is a product site. The website I work on is for a manufacturer and distributor. The other site in question is a directory for a certain sport interest. It been at #1 in the main keyphrase for about 2 months. The updates come when a new site is listed in the new sites box. At the moment the keyphrase is listed 7 times in the page content and thays why I was thinking that over time the directory listings change and so will his position. On view source I could not see the key phrase being used. Let me know if I am wrong in my assumption. Thanks
