Go figure. This is the strangest thing I have ever seen.

I changed hosts, and the migration went pretty well. On a fluke, I decided to look at the access_log files recorded by my old server, which I have yet to close out. All my pages remain on that old server. Lo and behold, Google is crawling the site on the old server. No one else is hitting it, just Google. How is that possible? I would love to hear an expalnation of this. Any takers?

Sounds like Google hasn't updated their DNS... Keep the content up and running on the old server until you see google spidering the new site.

Do a sitesearch on

googlebot dns

to get your answer. Keep your old site up till googlebot stops showing up there AND it is regularly showing up at your new site.

Look up at the top of this page where it says control panel, site search, ... and click on site search.
