Everyone is talking about the Google dance but only few words are directed towards a much more important date: the date when the deepbot will crawl the sites to build next months index.

What are your experiences about the Googlebot cycle? How many days after the Google dance will the deepbot come to your site and index it?

The reason for this question is pretty easy: we've got quite a big project ready to start and want to appear at Google from the very beginning. The domain was already built up with good pagerank during the last months and we'd need ~ 2 weeks to get all the content ready in a _perfect_ style but we can and will put it online right now if there's a chance to get it into the next Google index.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And yes - I've read the googlebot FAQ [webmasterworld.com] but it is pretty vague about the number of days after the dance...

Its very vague because there is no hard and fast rule. I would say as a rough guide - about a week after the dance finalises (ie New results have shown up in www).
If you watch your server logs, you will see googlebot come with an ip address starting with 2 (instead of 6 which is mr Freshie). This will tell you that the deep crawl has started.

Newbie question here...

I was under the impression that I would have to wait for the deepbot before Google indexed some new pages, but when I look in my logs I see that freshbot has spidered them.

How long do I have to wait before I see them in the SERPs?

fliks:

Last update, deep Google went right in without a delay, on my site. BTW: This was very much to my surprize.

nutkeis:

Check now. I put up a site 2 days ago and it in. Doing well I might add.

what I find interesting is that, if the dance is going on, that is started so soon after the deepcrawl which for me ended 4/26

Me 2 why2kit, 26th here also.

I also got blind - sided by the speed that the deep went in last month. Google is moving a much faster pace between events then in the past.

If I was a betting man, which I am I would have thought that this weekend (mothers day) would have been a good bet.
