URL Only Listings

kind of update related....but more of a general question.

Google has indexed my new site nicely and has indexed around 50 of the 70 pages avalible very nicely. But the other 20 have come up a little different, the pages that it seems to have added have no content from the pages themselves and no cached snapshot. All it shows is the url of the page and no other info, not even the title of the page.

Could this be because the title for some 70 pages is exactly the same? Is this considered spamming?

Actually, from what I can tell, this means that googlebot is aware those pages exist, but has not yet actually indexed them. Duplicate page titles might maybe possibly have some minor effect, but I am not sure.

The title should reflect the content on the page - I expect you have 70 pages of unique content so why not give each page a title to reflect the content?

Same thing has happened with my new site, but all pages are unique.

I suspect that there have been insufficient incoming links (therefore PR) to interest G in crawling too deep, and what it has done is list the URLs of the links found on the pages it DID crawl.

Haven't checked the logs in detail to be sure.

Get some more links, bump up your PR and G'll catch up with you next round, if not sooner with Freshbot.

I'm no expert, but it seems those 2o pages aren't indexed yet. Also, from my experience having the same title would not be spamming nor cause any problems. My site when first indexed had a lot of pages with the same title, until I got smart and realized I needed to target different keywords with different pages...my homepage wasn't gonna do it all for me

WebMistress,

I used to have individual titles for each page but put all the keywords that covered every page of my site in the homepage - you live, you learn!

the pages that have been added are news articles, i guess i'll change the code so the news title is the title of the page... But i'm not sure if this is the cause, its probably to do with PR and hopefully it will raise this month due to an additional 600 backlinks (according to alltheweb) :D
