I would suggest that many successful SEO's here fall into the top 10th or even 5th IQ percentile. Reaching the top echelons of any industry predominantly requires superior intelligence, thank god I have some!

In fact as an interesting sideshow, anyone care to post their official IQ i.e. tested, just to obtain a crude gauge on my hypothesis.

FleaPit--to answer your question...I've never taken an official IQ exam, but on the online one a couple years ago I scored a 147, I think.

#3 out of 5,780,000 --site had inched up to PR7 before the last update, but is now PR6 again...

Unfortunately, the KWP may be reasonably "competitive" (# of sites found by GG), but it is not extremely "popular" (# of searches as reported by Overture) --around 83,000 in April. (This is a site I created just for fun, so I do not care about either statistic, anyway...)

As for the IQ question: that's only meaningful if you state *which* test measured it (or more precisely: if you know the test's standard deviation). The only score that is (or should be) the same on all tests is 100; but 132 on one test (with an SD of 16) can correspond with 140 on another (with SD 20). Therefore, "percentile scores" are often used instead of IQ scores (e.g., 99th percentile or top 1%).

My own best score (on a test I took about 10 years ago) was 174 on a test with SD 16 --i.e., roughly 4.5 SD above the mean, which supposedly corresponds with the 1 in 1,000,000 level... :-)

Of course, all this, plus one dollar, may buy me a cup of coffee in New York.
