I wonder if someone at Google who works the 9-5 shift PST is responsible for pressing the button. Since button pressing is such an important role at Google, I wonder if they have an "official button presser". I also wonder if they don't trust the night crew to press the Freshbot button.

I live on the East Coast of the United States. I've noticed the Freshbot results always appear at the same time of day. Here are a few of my observations:
1) I have never seen a Freshbot update in the morning.
2) The earliest was at about 4 pm and the latest was about 10 pm.

Another theory is the button pressers desk gets piled up with papers, covering the button. On a good day they remember to press the button. On a bad day, the papers are covering up the button.

Utter nonsense. We all know pigeons push the buttons.

I don't know about Google, but Inktomi spiders my paid pages at the same time each night (8:50pm Central).

I've certainly noticed that the fresh dates are US orientated, which doesn't favour Europe as it appears to be "yesterday's news" a lot quicker. Not exactly a problem for my site, but UK visitors could be affected.
