hello! I am new here! and new to google as well, if my question has been asked somewhere, please let me know the link.

My site has been listing in google for about 3 months. For the first 2 month, I got about 200 visitors per, but now it dropped to around 90, I don`t know what is wrong with it? I changed nothing at all. and no outlink to my site was removed (knowing from searching link:mysite.com in google).

I guess my ranking dropped, but I don`t why it dropped, how and what can I do? Thanks in advance!

Hi Alexandra,

Probably this is because some other site has changed there things so they outrank your site.

So it does not only depend on your site... You have all your competitors to consider also :(

Welcome Alexandra,

Well there are many factors why traffic might drop, it may not be your site at all. I know I have a particular site that is seasonal, certain times of the year it does lots of traffic and then certain times of the year it drops down, but that is normal for that site.

I have another site that get's good traffic 3 out of the 7 days, so it's hard to tell without really knowing what your market is. As long as you are going by SEO guidelines and you have not changed anything I would not get to worked up over it.

Some sites are regular with traffic from day to day and then others are in spurts.

On your rankings, if they dropped, you might see how your doing in the link popularity department. I do know that I have seen sites take off the first month or two and then around the third month with little or no link popularity drop in ranking and traffic.

Hi Alexandra, welcome to WebmasterWorld.

Visitors that come via a search engine like Google to your site, enter some keywords to find a relevant site. Traffic to your site can also be hurt if a competitor got a higher ranking for a logic keyword (combination) because this competitor improved the site, or got more links.

We also noticed a big drop over the weekend, starting last Friday, yet our ranks are unchanged on Google.

It happens.

Funny thing is, for a few days before that we'd been enjoying a whopping surge of Google referrals.

It happens.

Beyond that, all I can do is echo BigMatthew's excellent advice.
