pr1 = penalty?

This question is to anyone who knows the answer, Google guy, I would be very grateful for your input.

One of my sites seems to be penalised by Google, and I dont know how to tell for sure. It has a page rank of just one but has several links to it from other relevant and well ranked pages. no matter what I seem to do to optimise this site its positions never seem to improve. This is what leads me to think that we are being penalised even though we do not employ any dirty tricks.

Can anyone help?

No dirty tricks = no penalization.

How long has the site been up? If it's less than three months, relax. I've had sites sit three months with PR 0 before their PR hit PR 5 all of a sudden.

You may want to work on better inbounds (yahoo, dmoz, etc.)

The site has been up since October last year, we have Yahoo, Looksmart sorted, but for some reason the DMOZ fella's dont seem to want to list us yet which seems a little strange, it not like its an adult site or anything like that.

The content I suppose could be a little better, but with what is there I would expect much better results, I have other sites with less that are doing OK.

This isn't a long wait at all by ODP standards. Particularly if your site belongs somewhere like Shopping.
