Ok.. I have heard that it is a good idea to have the people linking to your website include the keywords that you are targeting.

For example,

If I were trying to target the keyword "Website Design"

Would it be more beneficial to have the Links say:

<a...> FloridaDesigns - Website Design </a>
or just
<a...> Website Design </a>

Is there much of a difference, and how much of a role does it play?

in your example the second one is the better choice. the first since the words "Florida" and "Designs" are joined as "FloridaDesigns" does nothing but dilute the "website design" phrase also in the link.

now, since you included a location in the first I assume you are interested in promoting a site specific to certain place? if so, just break up the joined word "FloridaDesigns" and you are all set.

this plays a significant role. in general, you should take your time and be as specific, and consistent as possible with your incoming links.
