Not quite. www-in.google.com hasn't been updated yet, it's still showing the old results.

www, www1 and www2 are not servers. Google load balances via dns, so when you search on www.google.com you get results from one of the above data centers (each of which has multiple servers).

speda1 : yes I know www1 - 3 are not "servers", I just got used to name those that way over time :) when I was checking there for yahoo backlinks.

According to the NY Times article that Brett showed us, now a total of 57,000 servers between the data centers!

Hey, coconutz.

Is there a place that describes how all those servers play into the crawl? Or that explains (tutorially) how to follow along with updates...for the real novice?

I've looked around but, hey, ain't sure what I'm looking for.

:o

Ex: I see they made the 3x3 a 4x4.

I have no idea what that's about...other than when all four say the same thing then everflux or the update is over.

Thanks.

not sure when we should see a change in PR butmine went from 6 to 5 last night. I noticed it fluctualting last evening and now it has officially dropped. Seems like an odd time for that to happen.

From what I've read here in the past regarding PR, it seems that this is usually adjusted near the end of an update. I'm seeing our PR fluctuate as well. Too bad it's downward.

I wonder if we'll start seeing an increase in the number of link requests because of this? Will this also make the higher PR links [webmasterworld.com] more valuable?

i think it is part of that over all drop we are all seeing I did redo a bunch of pages just one step down that probaly was poor timing in hindsight. But all of my competitors look to have done the same thing.
