are webmasters being manipulated?

From the Googlham Gazzette:

"As webmasters around the globe are paralyzed by the anticipation of the new google update, suspicions are arising that Google is using the notorious google-forum to manipulate their (webmasters) moods in yet another behavioural experiment.
Unrevealed sources are claiming in fact that Google Guy is in reality no other then Brett Tabke...., the Batmaster of the Web.........will the truth ever be known?"
But rest assured that the next update will make people forget all about it ...."

Looks like Yahoo Groups kicked it now though...

all those WW visitors?

I really want to see a GoogleGuy cartoon/comic strip...

"OMG? These serps are full of irrelevant spam and doorway pages! This is a job for....GoogleGuy!"

Any creative types want to realise my dream? :)

This a great thread. I find the writing style/tone similar but the vocabulary usage is different, so if they are one in the same, then kudos.

This whole thing reminds me of the Higgins/Robin Masters thing from Magnum PI... the key to maintaining an illusion is to always do it even if you think no one is watching

Yes, that would be excellent. :)

I think GG is the chef who used to cook for the Grateful Dead......

> As far as we know - he could BE the CEO.

That's funny. I always assumed GG was either Larry or Sergey.

You know, the semi geeky grad student who has instant massive wealth within 3 years of starting a business, with only a certain technology leader up in Redmond as a yardstick.

He wants to keep in touch with the "real" world - otherwise he'll end up pulling an "out of touch with the common man" gaffe - like the former President when he saw barcode scanner in action for the first time while campaigning.

More power to you, whoever you are - GG the "Clark Kent" of Google.

Sorry you lot but you're all sadly mistaken.
If you've ever watched the film Spartacus, you would know that:
(Stands up and turns to camera)

"I'M Google Guy..."

Go on - I dare you all....

Google has repeatedly said that they prefer to automate things, rather than e.g. dealing with spam by hand. So I think it's obvious that GoogleGuy is an AI. After all, what better domain for Google to develop an AI for than a forum devoted to discussing Google?

You mean he's.......GoogleGuyBot? <gasp>

Perhaps he was incarnated with the likeness and attributes of both Larry AND Sergey...

(this is getting interesting)

I bet GG is loving all this attention. Although I'm not sure being called an AI is exactly complimentary ;)

If everyone makes out a check for $1 payable to "GoogleGuy" and sends it in care of that "special" address in Moville, IA. we will soon find out who GoogleGuy really is.

Individually it's a buck, collectively it's thousands.
The temptation will be too great NOT to cash those barrels of $1 checks. Once cashed, the check endorsements and resulting papertrail will lead us to GoogleGuy.

I would love to be GG's Agent.

Bookdeals, speaking engagments, 1k/hr strategy sessions...on and on

GG is brilliant. Not because of the Red Button, the spam reports, or the re-inclusions.

GG is brilliant because he chose WebMasterWorld, thereby securing his place in history and in his future.

His identity will not be a secret for long. Mark my words. And if he isn't the one to do it, someone will decide to do it for him, with our without GG's support.

If I know GG, then his contingencies are very much in place:)

Judging by the current content of googleguy.com I don't hold out much hope for them...

Again sorry, I will stop after this. Pixel, that is so funny. I want to take those people down! How dare they.

Lastly, it is very very clear to me that GG is an inherently good, altruistic person. I mean GG is a really nice man. Never a cross word. Always mindful and respectful. Often times reminding us of his short-comings (time) so that our expectations remain in check.

Unfortunately, in the real world, good guys often give and give, and never end up TAKING what they deserve or realizie their real value, monetarily. Even GG himself, many times, speaks of money. G's CEO continues to say that the most compelling reason for a G IPO is for the employees. WOW.

Sounds like a great long-term bet GG, but please DONT ever for a second question your value as a PROFESSIONAL. Your value as an INDIVIDUAL has been more than established at this time. BE GREETY... you really deserve it. And thanks for making WW a better place to spend our time..
