"As webmasters around the globe are paralyzed by the anticipation of the new google update, suspicions are arising that Google is using the notorious google-forum to manipulate their (webmasters) moods in yet another behavioural experiment.
Unrevealed sources are claiming in fact that Google Guy is in reality no other then Brett Tabke...., the Batmaster of the Web.........will the truth ever be known?"
But rest assured that the next update will make people forget all about it ...."
Oh, silly me! I thought they were aggressively hiring new people so they'd have more help with coding and other important work.
I guess you're right. They're just looking for someone who has an extra finger to push that button while they're busy playing roller hockey. ;)

No, they just need a new goalie.
If some one with a credible source *cough* GG *cough*, would simple say 'It has been confirmed that the Update will start with in 24 hours', then it would be much easier for us to do that. Until then it's almost impossible to not go bonkers! :) :) NOW PRESS THE BUTTON!
On a completely unrelated note, I can offer you a complete list of available ODP-related user handles, including newly expired or even recently inactive editors, based on a complete spider of all of dmoz.org. Guaranteed less than 6 hours old!
1) That he must work in Silicone Valley (Pacific Coast Time).
2) He probably starts early, and then finishes about 3:30pm
3) However, he first posts around 5pm, which makes me believe he has just left the famour "Google Bar" in their premises, after 6 large spritzers and some Tapas (no ham of course, in case...)
4) He then posts again about 9pm. Which, allowing for 1 hour to eat dinner (I wonder if there is a GoogleGal who does this for him), and maybe an hour to bond with the kids (or the TV). This means he lives about 45 minutes away from the office.
How am I doing GG?
:-)
Even worse.
A former salesman fascinated with Behavioral Study and Statistics. Stalking takes guts, I just sold stuff!
Actually, I just noticed that he tended to post the same times as I was online.
If it's okay, I'd like to keep my name private. That way if I ever want to hand the torch off, someone else can pick it up and run with it. But I am getting a kick out of this thread. :)

Best thing that could happen to the entire corporate world, IMO. No one ever believes all that slick corporate copy anyway.
The truth is I enjoy helping people out here, but it wouldn't be right to pay me extra for that. There area ton of people at Google who work harder than I do: the group that crawls and indexes the web, the engineers who keep the site up, and way too many folks than I could name. It takes a lot of effort to make Google work as well as it does.
