Hi, I just checked how I'm doing in ATW and it's not quite as good as would have hoped.

Will google result be close to ATW ones after the dance? In other words should I change my optimisation now b4 google update?

Thanks

Leo

What is ATW?

Improving your site now most likely won't make it into this update. But why put off until tomorrow ....

way way way too late to change anything for the dance due very soon.

wait for the dance to setlle (once it starts) and think about doing any changes.

As far as I know, the 2 databases are completely seperate, and if you rank in one, you might or might not rank in the other.

Of course, there are a few common variables to all engines, keyword density, link popularity in various flavors, and of course DMOZ listings. :)

Study them seperately - trying to draw a parallel could perhaps lead you to 'false positives' and not enable your maximum success.

I guess I was too lazy to figure out ATW. But as others have said, ATW has nothing to do with G. I'm not sure why you would think ranking in the one has anything to do with ranking in the other.

But I'm more confused about not making changes today just because the update is apparently imminent. The deepcrawl is likely to be right on the heals of the update and chances are you'll have limited time to make changes before you are too late for the next update.

I guess I'm so naive that I just assume changes should always be for the better. Are you guys saying you try this or that and if that doesn;t move you forward, you undo it and try something else? Seems like an unproductive game to me. My boring approach is to keep adding more content and getting more links. Occassionally I might play with titles, etc. or keyword density but I still think adding more and more content and creating more interlinking relationships is the way to move up on G and other engines.

I know it's just that my site I really changed since the last deepcrawl so I want 'him' to be ready for the next!

I won't, it's just that thanks to ATW I figured out something that I should have implemented before!

Sorry for the 'late' response, I was doing the amendements!

Cheers

Having high ranks in very large databases helps, I find. The results from one engine may not have anything to do with another engine, but the numbers, the actual statistics from a larger database are more precise than a smaller database. I like seeing good results in the larger search engines. I was ranked 8 in 18,000,000 in ATW and was quite happy, Ive now slipped to 40ish. I have recently rebuilt my pages and added alot more info. I am anxious to climb back up again.

I think they rebuilt their index on the 2nd of April, you should go and have a look (if you didn't change it afterwards)

Good Luck :)

I play so well with GOOGLE and GOOGLE send so many hits to me, BUT I have yet to see 1 referral from ATW because I never rank high with them! :(

I think I will try to cloak next month with ATW to really find out how it works. If they ban me, I lost nothing since I get 0 hits from them even I am not banned.

Check you logs for hits from Lycos, which uses FAST SERPs. ATW is more of a testbed, and not really promoted.

I've gotten banned from ATW once and ONLY THEN I realised how much traffic they did send me.

Alltheweb is good food for the Google-deprived

It also allows me to see all the sad, sad PR2 sites that are using my website templates.

Hi:
I get about %40 of my hits from Yahoo. So you might want to think about INK a little more seriously.

I panicked for nothing - but did the changes for better results next time - hopefully - I was 5th on my main search terms (3 keywords search - What Ido andWhereIdoit)!
