Are updates based on deepbot or freshbot crawls or both?

Will the page used in the update be the one deepbot or freshbot got?

Is there a difference in how the different cached versions (the one that freshbot vs deepbot gets) of the same page are used?
I thought that the deep bot was the one that cached your page to be in the next update, and the freshbot just updated changes to the cache version in between updates, but did not affect rankings between updates. However, this does not seem to be happening with my page.

In January we messed up our robots.txt file and so were not indexed and were left out of the Feb update. Once we realized this and fixed the robots file, the bots were crawling us again.

Previous to our screw up we were #4 for our main keyword. About 3 days after the bots started crawling us again we appeared at #31 with a grey bar and no backlinks. Both bots were hitting us but I assume freshbot got us back into the index because of the grey bar and no back links.

A day later we were at #21, still grey bar, no links.
A few days later #20, grey bar no links.

The rank changing seems to have happened after the fresh bot not the deep bot. I changed the home page quite a bit, added keywords etc. I am assuming that this is why the ranking moved up a bit.

I made the keyword change after the deep bot visited so I am wondering if the caches that freshbot has gotten will be used in the March update or the ones that the deep bot had before my changes?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks

Hello brizad. When Fresh listings first stared, the cached remained the one from the last full update. This changed a few months ago.

The main difference now is that PageRank (and backlinks) change at the full update.

That is what I thought too but that is not actually what happened. Somehow we appeared in the SERPS (after being out of the index) and then we went from #31 to #21 to #20. This all happened since the Feb update. That is why I am wondering if something changed.
