Optimizing for Google using Freshbot

Will my ranks caused by Freshbot be the same after the Google update?

I have arranged a link to my new site from a different site's page with PR 5. I did this to help my new site get into the Google index.

2 days later (03/16), 2 pages of my new site have appeared in the Google SERP thanks to Freshbot.

I have checked the SERPS today and the date next to my site listing has changed from 16 Mar 2003 to 17 Mar 2003 which means the Freshbot is visiting those pages daily.

Now my question is:

Will the ranking of my pages be about the same after my site gets permanently into Google?

This way I could optimize the page while the Freshbot is visiting my pages and save so much time!

I have read that Google 'guesses' page rank for new sites found by the freshbot. Presumably this is based on the links via which it found the new site. Also, it may give a new site a slight boost as the content will be fresh and new.

My experience has been that the new site stays roughly the same after the following update. The 'boost' initially given is replaced by the new links found.

I've seen a "competitor's" page with almost no links to it hit 9 when (I believe) the freshbot picked it up, it quickly went down to 2 or 3. Wait a while for more stable results.

Freshbot is using more/less the same algo as regualr update...you won't gain lose much with the main update

Actually one of my pages ranks #27. If I optimize it today and it ranks tomorrow (thanks to Freshbot) e.g. #5 . Can I expect about the same ranking (#5, or so) after the main Google update?

It of course depends on any clever changes your competitors have done and have had deep crawled for the next index. But if their sites are more or less the same, and google does not change its current algo dramatically, you should be roughly in the same position as you achieve now,,,,, but thats the dance for you, strange things can happen :)

Guys, I am back with results. One of my pages has moved from #27 to #26 today. The other one from #127 to #120.

Google cache for both pages shows the latest version of the page and the date next to both results is Mar. 20.

Now I need to wait after the next Goolge main update and see how it affects my ranking...
