I get this message with a certain keyword phrase that has been fine for a few months. Hence, clickthroughs and impressions are down.
For another campaign, when I hovered over the keyword analysis tab again, it gave the message as if I had just added the keyword, even though I haven't! (message being keyword not showing, because you just added the keyword etc)
Anybody else had any issues like this?
Many thanks
Adverts and keywords that were submitted ran for 24 hours, with a large volume (50,000+ impression and 2000+ clicks) before suddenly developing this problem.
Now since the "This keyword is not permitted to show your ads in the targeted location." error appeared, volume has decreased, and when searching for our ads, they also seem to appear at the bottom of the listings (at least 3 or 4 pages deep) where they had been sat in the top 2 or 3 positions previously. This is both when searching normally or with the preview tool, multiple browsers, machines, etc.
To make things even more unusual, the stats in Adwords show the average position of the keywords to still be similar to previously, rather than the expected position of 30-40 as witnessed.
Quality score for the keywords is great and minimum bids generally around £0.03 so doesn't seem to be that affecting it.
We spoke to our Adwords rep and they weren't exactly helpful on the situation. They just suggested that other people had raised their bids. But 3 pages of advertisers all raising their bids overnight seems a little unlikely.
Has anyone else managed to get any more reliable information from the powers that be?
Since October 31st I have seen a dramatic decline in revenue from AdWords, but and increase in Ad Spending. I watch the keywords in the account like a hawk, run all kinds of reports and compare adpositions on a rather frequent basis (a few times a day) and when I use the ad preview tool it looks like all of my ads are in the expected positions. However, when I go to a computer that has a different IP address, I see drastic drops in my ad positions using the same ad preview tool.
I have been trying to identify what the issue is and have not been able to pinpoint it yet. I was beginning to think that its a consumer demand issue.
Now I am not so sure. After reading this thread, I tried the ad diagnostic tool and ran my money keywords and get "No ad is being shown for the keyword". This is for all of them that I ran a search on.
It is telling me that its my quality score and bid being to low.
This is not possible because I have been jacking my bids through the roof to be ranked #1 on these keywords and my average position over the past few days claims to be #1. #1 from where? Certainly from my ip address, but not from a different 1.
Is there any chance that this error in the ad diagnostic tool is actually bleeding over to real results? I look at my costs and I want to say no, but then I look at my revenue and say yes, something is wrong.
I am going to be blasted later on today because of this and I have raised bids, know the niche very well and while ad positions claim to be at a certain spot, when I am not on my IP address, I am seeing something different.
Now thats not to say that IP exclusion is not playing a role from a competitor, but to see multiple competitors above me says that is really slim. The ad diagnostic tool showing what it is, and seeing a drop in revenue, i am concerned.
Engineering is aware of this, and is taking a close look. In the meantime, one may use the Ad Preview tool to confirm the appearance of one's ads.

Still, in GENERAL, is anyone else feeling the same as me; that you simply cannot trust Adwords lately?
My revenue is down as well from AdWprds and this time last year, the traffic was great. The traffic has plumetted, my bids are higher, and my CTR is actually better than ever.
My other general feeling towards my AdWords account in general is that it is just too "finicky" and touchy. I don't change a THING to try and better optimize. I'm too afriad Google will shut my ads down, keywords will cost more for decent position, or some other technicality.
AdWORDS is too fragile lately.

Usually but not always and this highlights a small problem with the ad preview tool that has been bothering me lately. If someone copies your ad indentically, as quite a few of my competitors have resorted to, you, nor they for that matter, can tell if your ad is showing or someone elses is using the ad preview tool. I understand not being able to click the ads in the ad preview tool but if it is going to be designed that way the destination URLs should be made visable on the page under each listing or at least in the source to solve this. Normally I can use the ad diagnostic tool in these cases but it is still returning incorrect messages. BTW, you need to remove the period at the end of the URL in your post AWA.

If someone copies your ad indentically, as quite a few of my competitors have resorted to ...
(It seems like a cumbersome procedure, though.)

AWA - any news on this? It's been nearly a week now...
Yep. To set reasonable expectations, I think the time-to-resolution will be measured in days rather than hours. Because of the many interdependencies involved, a 'quick fix' is not in the cards in this case.
I do apologize for the inconvenience - and advise relying on your account stats (which remain unaffected) and the Ad Preview Tool in order to check whether ads are running.

I am still getting the incorrect messages in the tool. At least ads are running as normal for me.
Yes - and my apology for the frustration.
I'll certainly update this thread when things have been resolved.
And yes, you are correct: ad delivery is not (and has not been) impacted.
Thanks everyone, for your patience.

AWA, I realize you plan to update us when things are resolved. But do you have any idea when that will be?
A very fair question, jim2003.
Disclaimers:
So, I've learned over the years never to mention actual dates in cases such as this, because, when I do, it tends to take on the aura of a commitment - which is something that I can't make (not being in charge of all the variables at play).
And, I've been wrong more than once in the past when I've gone out on a limb with a 'best guess' - and I do so hate to be wrong in front of potentially thousands of people. ;)
The answer:
Now, with those disclaimers out of the way - my hope is that this will be resolved either later today or tomorrow.
Please do not quote me on this, in some international blog or something, OK? ;)
In all seriousness, I do sincerely apologize that this has been quite some time in getting resolved. Your collective patience has been (and is still) very much appreciated.

Do you know if this has anything to do with the issue where most if not all keywords on some campaigns are reporting as "inactive" in the AdWords Editor, when they appear to be running just fine?
I checked with the tech folks on this question, and they tell me they "wouldn't expect there to be any connection between the the Ads Diagnostic Tool issue and anything with the KW status as displayed by AdWords Editor".
Just out of curiosity, netmeg, have you contacted support at all about the "most if not all keywords on some campaigns are reporting as "inactive" in the AdWords Editor, when they appear to be running just fine?" issue?
