On a further note, could these updates explain why the bot hasn't updated my ads on a new page in sometime? I set up a new site and one of the pages is still receiving targeting that is about another one of my domains.
Ex: my other site is about A on domainA.com, this is about B on domainB.com, on domainB.com on the index.html I am getting ads about A. They are not even related at all. Any suggestions?
I wouldn't recommend clicking on your Ad Links topics to avoid
He's building up the tention! :-)
To avoid...
* lowering your cpm
* being booted from the program
* irrelevant ads
* the temptation
* damage to your computer
* another sleepless night
* a third term for Bush
* RSI
... what?
I agree, we should be able to modify the standard Google-Middle-Man-Adsense page to include our logo/colors/design and a link back to our website, similar to the Google Search option.
"Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page, but no ad unit shall contain any advertisement in common with any other ad unit. Serving two or more identical ads on a single page constitutes double-serving, which Google does not support.
A maximum of two Google AdSense for search boxes may be placed on a page.
A single Ad Links unit may be placed on each Web site page, IN ADDITION to the ad units and search boxes specified above"
The UPPER CASE translate is my own. I saw this to mean you can use 1 x ad links *as well as* 3 x ad units.
AdsenseAdvisor,
The size options are pretty limiting. PLEASE recommend that they add a new size that is a single text line (uh maybe 600x15) like the following:
Adlinks by Google: topic A,topic B, topic C, Topic D
I think others may be interested in this size too, as it can be slipped in above/below existing <HRs> between text paragraphs, etc. And, we already have the perfect spot for them. I PROMISE we'll add them ASAP to every major page. :)
AND... I've Already clicked the TOPICS to see the ads, so I HOPE that's allowed. The Ads, aren't always the greatest though to match the topics it seems.
I have pages where the regular Adsense ad blocks simply didn't work as intended before, so I removed them. Pages where:
--the top bidders usually seemed to be crap/spam advertisers
--the worthwhile advertisers (worthwhile to my page visitors) usually seemed to low bid, hence their ads would not show on the page
--I could not get more than one ad unit to show reliably
Now, with the AdLinks, the crap/spam advertisers appear to be aggregated under a separate link, and links now appear to pages with the worthwhile stuff.
I mean to say, I am now seeing AdLinks displays like the following:
AdLinks by Google
-----------------
* worthwhile stuff
* more worthwhile stuff
* crap
* spam
* still more worthwhile stuff
In fact, on the few pages where I have installed AdLinks, and where before I would usually see nothing but crap and spam in my usual skycraper ad units, I am now seeing
AdLinks by Google
-----------------
* worthwhile stuff
* worthwhile stuff
* worthwhile stuff
* worthwhile stuff
* worthwhile stuff
It seems that, with the passage of time--maybe the Googlebot has revisted those pages--the ad targeting seems spot on!
At the very least, I can reintroduce Adsense to many of my pages again where it simply didn't work before for the stated reasons.
As someone said earlier, Choice Is Good.
Terrific, Google!
At this time, AdSense publishers may place one Ad Links unit on any
content page. This number does not affect the current limit of 3
regular
ad units on any page - you may still place up to 3 regular ad units in
addition to a single Ad Links unit on any content page that complies
with
our [google.com...] .
Google is obviously trying to create more ad inventory, but I'm skeptical about the benefit to publishers.
It's a cute idea, though. :-)
To finish that sentence, I wouldn't recommend clicking on your own Ad Links topics for the same reason we don't encourage searching with your own AdSense for search box. Doing so may increase the number of impressions in your reports, which wouldn't properly reflect traffic to your pages.
By the way, all of your comments are being heard loud and clear over here at the Googleplex. Keep it coming!

I realize that page view stats are based “some how” on ad impressions, but this type of reporting is very confusing. Only the amount of clicks and earnings, are numbers that can be understood. I would prefer page view stats to reflect actual web site page views, any chance of that happening?
