September was a month to forget, hoping for better things in October.
Good luck everyone.

In the last 7-10 days I spent some time reviewing some sites running ads and AdSense. Nothing particularly scientific, just a user review. I must have looked at almost 50 sites. Probably 75% were so thick with ads that the content was hard to find and read: As site visitors we're generally there for the content. The sites of most interest were those showing fewer ads: I could easily read the site content, and could easily see the ads. I came across sites running ads from other services, and they were probably the worst, imho. The content was all over the place, and it was clear that the ads were the main focus.
The moral of the story; fewer ads is probably better, imho.

Same here @MMedi26.
Lets hope for better things in November, October was probably one of the worst octobers since I started with adsense many moons ago.

@skips, I tied you for low ad revenue, on the 30th, 20 cents. I have thousands of pages with adsense on them and have spent more time the past 2 years implementing changes I thought would help, but earnings just keep deteriorating.
I've done Adsense since 2005. At the best of times I was earning $10-12 per day. Not great, but my niche is very specific and my site somewhat "evergreen." I think it's over between me and Google. I literally hate them. I'll sell my own ads. If I make half of what I used to make, that's fine. I'll have happy readers and advertisers. Have a new site under development that is getting as many page views as my regular site with NO promotion, NO google, just organic.
I'm fortunately retired, so I don't need income, though it is always nice to have some. Good luck to all the sufferers.

@Skips I understand you, I was just doing what you were doing for two weeks, but if you deactivate the ads, Adsense will delete your account, they recommend that it is better to leave at least the minimum number of ads so as not to recover the account later.

@fearlessrick: Good for you! Even if you earn somewhat less - selling own ads and being in control of what ads are on your site and what you are getting paid is definitely a level up. I started with Adsense right about the same time as you. First few years Adsense worked out pretty good on one of my sites, which happened to be in a lucrative niche - those good old days when ads were relevant to the site's niche instead of what your visitors were browsing before they came to your site. Then earnings gradually decreased and I removed adsense and wasn't running ads for 5 years or so. Few years back decided to see if things had improved, and they did. Earnings were gradually increasing as I was building up the traffic, it seemed logical and was a pleasant motivating factor. This year Adsense performance, at least in my case, was getting worse each month and by now turned to total NonSense.
@LucasPerez: I did not run ads for several years and I think you are right - they did not delete, but did suspend (or de-activated) my account. But it wasn't hard to re-activate it, when I decided to run ads again. I think I requested re-activation via dashboard (can't remember for sure). Took a day or two and they started serving ads again. Frankly, I'm not really considering adsense account to be a huge asset in itself, so I'm not too worried about it. I did keep ads on one page that gets like 30-50 views a day - not out of fear of suspension, but out mere of curiousity of how long Google will continue to pay those pennies.
One thing, that annoys me: In the old days Google wasn't open about the profit share for adsense. They just said: with Adsense you will get paid more than anywhere else and that's all you need to know. Perhaps wasn't fair, but it was at least honest. These days, revenue share is supposed to be 68%, but somehow while publishers are complaining about decreases in income G is reporting steady growth in advertising revenue. Magic!

@allhearts, I turned user-based ads on and off over extended periods. No discernible difference in anything.

@Skips it is indeed as you say, you can read it at this link:
But the problem is that everything has changed, and now it is much more difficult for them to review and accept you, and I am not in the business of wasting any more time, that's why I leave a vignette ad at 1 min. I no longer update the editions, and bye Adsense.
