It's ridiculous - my site is finance niche

July 2018 vs 2019
+ 30% pageviews
- 40% Adsense earnings

July 2018 vs 2019

Only 1/3 of July is passed, ...

By the way if you have good amount of traffic, you can certainly find better ways to monetize your site.

Yesterday was for a July day a good one.
Today reporting is slow.

@whoknows111
Finance is suffering currently depending on the countries. EU is surviving in comparison to the ‚rest of the world‘.

ok, let me spell it exactly for you... July 1 - July 8, 2018 vs July 1 - July 8, 2019

And I use other monetization as well, that's not the point.

If the purpose was to point the collapsing of Adsense earnings, then there is nothing new under the sun. When Adsense stops performing well, wise guys are moving away.

I monetize my sites through paid memberships, Adsense, and Exponential. Everything is down right now except for my paid memberships. Even Exponential's fill rate has dropped from 43% to 14% to start the month ... OMG. I have to come up with some new revenue generating strategies. Maybe companies are saving their ad money for the upcoming holidays. We'll see, but I think a storm is coming.

The start of July marked the end of Q2, so expect demand to be slow for about 7 to 10 days or so.

If last year is any indication, I didn't see a jump in CPC until mid-August.

Storm is coming for sure, several multinationals already gave earning alerts like Samsung or big chemical companies like BASF. The economy isn't that good as most people believe.

It's not.

The fallout from the China-US tariff war is still coming. The major import/export shipping companies are the first to know and they know right now. Recession might get here as early as late-2019 but it's coming.

Sissi

Recession is a marginal issue in my opinion.
It is compensated by the shift of off line shopping services to online business.
This process is far not completed yet.
As they are a huge amount of liquidity circulating, I would call it recession but a new 2008 crisis and Deutsche is only an anticipated move.

I don’t think recession is always a bad thing: especially if you have some cash stashed away. Recession is a great opportunity for some. It’s a good time to buy websites and real estate...if you saved during the good times.

I have no conclusive evidence, but seems like google does not like certain site changes. Although, I never figured out which changes trigger a negative impact and what may be coincidence, e.g. this past week I've added "post updated date" alongside the "original post date". Seems harmless enough, yet my Adsense revenue has dropped way off for several days and counting. Coincidence?

I have a rule and it's "never mess with a well-performing page." Every time, over the past year and a half, I've tried to tweak a high ranking page, it has backfired. EVERY TIME! Google is very, very finicky and I have not figured them out. So, the only pages I touch are ones that are NOT on the Google SERP first page.

What funny is that all of my main pages rank in the top 3 on DuckDuckGO and Bing. Those rankings are easier to manipulate.

Maniplulate or easier to SEO for?

FWIW my Bing and DDG rankings are excellent and they are not US centric, plus I see very little spam or scrapers compared to Google, OTOH, their image results are nowhere near as good.

According to the following document [support.google.com ] and recently made announcement, the existing Text ads only units are no longer available, which is understandable but is it for the whole AdSense ecosystem or only for specific accounts? I still see a lot of Text ads only units in my niche, but not on my own site. Also, they are suggesting the in-feed ad units with a text-only option, but I doubt that this particular one will replace 3-4 text ads within one ad as it used to. Any ideas? My revenue is basically down because of this change.

Did something happen yesterday? Global RPM is down by a mile. Only US and Canada RPM are as usual, the rest, all other countries(!) stand at 30%. Never seen this behavior before.

...more websites each day and not enough companies advertising. Fill rates are at an all-time low...and it's July, so we won't see the effects of new ad budgets for another month. Also, when the economy is turning bad, ad budgets are the first thing to go, which is faulty thinking.

I recall reading that Adsense may not be accepting new requests as easily anymore. I'm not sure how true this is or the percentage of requests affected.

Yes, it is more difficult to get approved. However, they are still approving websites. I’ve had three websites approved within the last month. One of those websites was the same type of website that a friend of mine tried to get approved. His website was not approved and mine was because my site was more robust.

If you produce good content and robust websites, they will be approved by Adsense. However, it took Google about 2 to 3 weeks to approved my new sites.

No idea if this is due to the Chrome update,
July 19 looks like even better than July 18. EU region and North America.

Re Website acceptation: lost patience with Adsense so I write new pages within an existing domain (same niche of course).
Assuming you have already a large number of approved domains.

Very good Friday so far. Non-US rpm has recovered, after global nosedive on Thursday.

My sites are in a niche and usually very stable, so any change in the rpm trend is alarming.

Typical July Friday for me...similar to the rest of the month.
