Whoever said AdSense had had its day should take a look at my figures at the moment. Page RPM £3.50 10 CPC is 39p. These figures are higher than when my earnings were at their peak. The only difference is I am only getting a quarter of the clicks I did back then. I've only had 21 clicks so far today. There is still at least three or four hours of earning time from the US so I'm hoping to reach double figures.

Early days still with the non-personalised ads, but so far the CTR has actually increased a little. Unfortunately, my own observations demonstrate just how poor the targetting is. The ads are for the correct industry, but nearly always have a factor that makes them completely irrelevant to anyone looking at my site. e.g. on my travel destination websites, I am seeing ads for products in other destinations that would be nearly impossible to get to for my audience. With this new regime of non-personalised ads, we desperately need a means to influence which ads are displayed. There are many, many advertisers promoting products that my readers are actively looking to buy, however those ads are not being displayed.
The success of link units for many of us clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of having on-topic ads, and for my sites, these are the only units that are consistently relevant to the content of the page.

As I guessed, Saturday turned out to be the best day of the month. Only 23 clicks but with a CPC of 40p it wasn't too bad (for me anyway)
@Kasey
Sorry, I don't quite follow what you're asking me, maybe you can elaborate so I can answer your question

Looks like another reasonably okay day. Up to 18 clicks so far and my CPC has been rising slowly and it's now at 25p. Page RPM is £3.03 it's only early to mid afternoon in the US so still quite a few hours to go.

Stellar performance from Adsense over the last two days.
No definite conclusions yet because it is a Bank Holiday weekend and the weather conditions in the UK are rather bizarre. But even so, far, far better than I would expect.

Hello, im new here. Also im not any expert at adsense. Im using adsense for 2y and i have very variable earning (december and january are best) lowest are at april may... Can somebody explane to me all things at adsense. Or give me some nice article about it. I want to know better about all shortcuts in adsense like impressions, page ctr,impressions ctr,cpc,,page rpm,impression rpm. Can i manipulate (choose better ads) to increase earning,what every that tab is for etc etc. I just enable adsense and put ads,i didnt do nothing special,i didnt even put custom channel. Do i need that? Im sorry im big nob for all this so maybe someone can explane to me and give some advice. Tnx in advance.
Almost total annihilation and oblivion for me with my lowest AdSense PVs ever yesterday beating New Year's Day by 15.3%.
Nearly all my sites have been removed from the US Google.com SERPs or demoted so far that they're not even worth looking for meanwhile either crap rules the roost or US company sites hosted on US servers copying my sites ad verbatim have taken over.
Congratulations G, your localisation seems to have been a resounding success.

@Wader 700 clicks, that's awesome. Shame that your CPC isn't very high. However, not a bad day's earnings, I'd be quite happy :-)
If I was getting that many clicks on a daily basis I'd probably be making two or three times as much as you, especially at the weekend. However, my click rate has dropped dramatically and I rarely get much more than about 30 clicks nowadays. However, sometimes my CPC is as high as 40p so it does reflect on my earnings.
What is your best performing ad if you don't mind sharing?

@Wader
Obviously advertisers are not wanting to pay as much per click. I would imagine that the only reason why you would be earning less money but with the same clicks. If I was you, I'd be happy with €40, some of us have dropped from double figures down to single figures.

If I was in your position the first thing I would do is change the position of some of the AdSense to see if that improves your earnings. I shouldn't go too mad, just change one on each page to begin with, if earnings go down then put it back where it was. Also, it depends on how long your articles are. If some of your articles are quite long and people have to scroll then is absolutely nothing wrong with putting some ad units in between paragraphs which can do very well. I do prefer custom channels because then you know exactly what is earning you the money.

@Wader There is only one metric that you need to be focused on, AVV, Active View Viewable. This metric measures the viewability of the impressions. If an ad is not seen by the user it cannot be clicked. The higher the AVV the better. This is specially important on mobile devices since most responsive layouts push ads far down the page. If users never scroll to those ads then it will never be clicked. Advertisers are not willing to pay for ads that aren't seen, so they will pay more for ad placements that are more likely to be seen. Obviously, this is the reason their is a premium paid for above the fold placements. In the mobile world, the concept of ATF (above the fold) is obscured, as the ATF screen area is very small and easily scrolled-by by the user. Your AVV must be above 50% and the higher the better.
You can test my theory by checking your stats, ad placements with the highest AVV will be earning you the most RPM.
Another recommendation is to use the Ad-Balancer feature, with it you can suppress the ads that are least likely to earn you money. These ads tend to be low quality spammy ads, that reflect poorly on your website and distract users from high quality ads.
One final note, don't focus on CPC and CTR, these metrics only account for a portion of impressions, CPC bid types. You should be focused on RPM which provides a standardized measure of revenue that covers all bid types, CPC, CPM, AV-CPM, eCPM etc... One should be agnostic about the bid type. I don't care if a user clicks an ad so that I get paid, or if the user simply is shown an ad. I just want to get the most money possible by any means. The only way to measure that is RPM.

Google again confirmed that Brand Safety update has hit me hard. This is because I run a news site.
A "specialist" is working on my case. I don't understand how ads on my rival's site are displayed right after the posts are published but it's blank for up to an hour in my case.
I wish Google had acknowledged it before. The employees were saying it's seasonal, it seasonal, but it wasn't. A employee finally acknowledged it, and forwarded it to the specialist.

@Nick
I am writing to them since Feb, but every single time they have claimed that drop is seasonal blah blah.... The lazy employees didn't even bother to check what's wrong. I wrote yet another email but with a emotional tone to them 10 days ago, and a employee replied back saying that that a significant amount of traffic is from uncrawled URLs, and he has forwarded it to the tech department. Today, again he emailed to inform that the issue has now been forwarded to a specialist who's actively investigating it.
There is a problem but the thing is the employees never bothered to look into it. Finally, someone did and hopefully they will increase the crawler speed.

From what I understood, what you all call "Brand Safety", is the fact that a page needs to be checked by the Adsense bot, before ads start showing. If so, when you publish a new page, once it's online, visit it yourself, to trigger the Adsense bot visit, and check the page during the next hour , until you start seeing ads, and when ads are showing, you can start adding links to this page, as well as post it on social networks.

@Mayank I often get the same response. One really needs to be insistent with them, and be prepared. When they say its seasonal one needs to go into the stats to politely disprove their claims. Once they see that you are on your game and have checked all that can be checked then they begin to take things seriously. It is often getting over this initial hurdle which is the most challenging. Good luck.
