I am up to 14 clicks with a 12p CPC so far today. But it's still early afternoon in the US so hopefully, things will get slightly better. At least marchers earnings were a lot better than January's.

@May Is it possible to work out how many clicks were disabled.

@Travis the responsive ad link unit underneath the horizontal menu is completely different from the actual menu. However, these link units to follow your niche so people will click on them.

The link ads are basically clickbait, and it would do great below menu or near download links. However, things have changed after new link update.

^Curious if you've noticed your CPC adversely affected having 5 ad units on your page. I am thinking about experimenting with more units now that Adsense allows it but not sure if it will reduce CPC. I have seen the really big sites have a huge number of ad units, but these guys get protection from smart pricing and the fact they are huge sites the advertisers will still want to have their ads shown on them anyway.

There's one big website that I'm sure most of you have seen that basically has AdSense units populated all down the page as you scroll down. Most of them are just showing rubbish like you'd see on any other website, however, they must be making money.

@tryingtogrowsite the only thing, besides growing my traffic, that has ever made a measurable difference for me in terms of increasing revenue (impression RPM) is increasing my AVV Active View Viewable.

You must be thinking, "Why are you telling me this?"

Before you include more ads on your page be sure that the ads will be seen. If you have three ads but only 2 of 3 get seen (AVV of 2/3 = 0.667) adding 2 more will drop your AVV(2/5 = 0.4). This will have a significant negative impact on your RPM overall. In such a situation one will be worse off by adding more ads.

@Travis Experiment didn't work. The additional link ad on sidebar made one dollar in 24 hours. Very low CTR, I blame Google's update.

NickMNS, I understand your general idea but from your logic no site would have any ads except at the top of the page, because any ad below that will inevitably lower overall visibility.
So we need to find a balance between rpm and visibility that maximises income, but it is not quite as simple as just maximizing visibility.
Example, a link unit at the bottom of our pages has visibility only 12% yet earns about 50 usd a day, a significant amount that would definitely not be replaced by other ads if we removed it because of its poor visibility.

Well, this month was a bust!
In many parts of the world is a long weekend (28.04-02.05), as the 1st of May is a non-working day.

So, we will have a slow starting month, again.

Umm... International Workers' Day. But it should not affect the US traffic and earnings.

My final month with the reality of my AdSense:

Thursday1 click Bangladesh
Friday 1 click Ethiopia
Saturday, 12 hours so far, 1 click Ukraine

So, I've gone from 1,000+ clicks a day to 1

Congratulations Google!

Our RealWorld business is completely normal however Google search is not generating hardly anything for us, the sites are busy, people visit them direct and through various marketing efforts we have, business reality and trust for our global widget trade, has gone back to the 70s/80s/90s.

Who would have predicted that?

In India, China, and other Asian countries as well. Long weekend plus Infinity War would be disaster.

Nick, I do, even the ad that appears below the article has an active view of around 40 to 45%. My RPM is always the best for the middle ad, which usually appears in the middle part of the content

I didn't see any progress this month. The higher CTR was canceled out by a drop in CPC.

I don't think I can squeeze out improvement in revenue any further, it's now a matter of increasing traffic.

Earning is better.

But I'm super scared of clawback :(

@Travis Removed the second sidebar ad, and the CPC of the first sidebar ad has improved. One 300x250 ad on sidebar is doing 20% better than 300x600, and it seems better for user experience as well.

300x600 once used to be one of the highest earners but not anymore.

Anybody else notice a RPM drop? It's nothing to do with time of the year or anything like that - I just get random site RPM drops now and again and they then come back up.

@Steve page RPM is dreadful all of a sudden. Doing okay for clicks but CPC is pathetic at only 9p yesterday

I actually removed some 300 x 600 ad units hoping that the few banner ads I have and also the responsive ad link unit and music would increase earnings. However, doesn't seem to have made any difference, earnings are still dreadful. As it goes, I'm just reaching triple figures each month which means I more than cover the cost of my server with spending money left over. So as long as I am actually making money I will continue with AdSense even though earnings are dreadful

Ironside, I've mentioned this in the past, but when my RPM drops, I can just tell it's nothing to do with seasonal visits or anything like that. It's almost like a Google error/change - accidental or not (who knows), because it sometimes happens with my colleagues who cover the same industry - sometimes at the same time as me, sometimes it's my site, sometimes it's theirs. It lasts for a few days, sometimes 2-3 weeks and then returns to normal as if nothing had happened.

I've been getting drastic RPM drops every once in awhile since January. Everything is normal and then, wham, one day the bottom drops out, usually due to a large EPC drop. Then it comes back, knocks on wood. I have no idea why, although I think it has to with new Adwords bidding mechanisms. It is nerve-wracking.

I think it's AI and Programmatic demand going wild. There are quite a few moving parts in the system that are completely out of people's controls. Humans only step in after they see big unwanted effects from ad serving algo's. I believe we'll see even more drastic swings moving forward, as advertisers become much better at targetting.

I hope your wrong. That seems to me like a very undesirable situation for everyone. Volatile markets tend to result it many losers and few winners.
