Is anyone else seeing a delay? I'm literally seeing zero clicks, zero CPC, zero CTR etc.

I love this one...

I just got the monthly email from AdSense - "How did your-site.com perform with AdSense in February", Revenue is overstated by about 25% than what is shown in my account. That is $ to $ but I'm paid in CAD and typically these email show values in USD, so the difference is actually close to 50%. The impressions value is also wrong, in this case understated by about 25% as is CTR. It is under stated by about 40%.

Hopefully they will make the same mistake when they make the payment and over pay me.

i don't know whats going on with adsense but it seems like they panicked and replaced people or something... and the new people in charge have dropped the ball completely.. even since last year.. and im not just talking about RPM..

I am looking for advice/suggestions. I have a DFP account and an Adsense account. I also have Media.net and Sovrn accounts.

If I use DFP and then configure Adsense, Media.net and Sovrn ads - can I optimize(over a period of time) over CPMs, plus use header bidding to basically increase my earnings for the same inventory? Am I thinking on the correct lines - or there is an inherent flaw in the way I am looking at the bigger picture?

I am seeing blank ad slots everywhere at the moment - something is very broken.

@foreverlearning yes that is the only way to do it. All your ad slots should be managed together such that all parties can bid on all ad slots. Placing one Media.net slot, and one Sovrn ad slot and one AdSense slot on a page is not optimal, use DFP with header bidding.

How difficult is it for a novice to move from Adsense to adx?
I have a couple of publishing sites and have been mulling over switching for a while
Any help people could offer would be much appreciated!

Ads seem to be displaying correctly now, but there were several hours where I was seeing blank ads in firefox.

Well, I can't really say that things are getting worse or staying the same as they have been for the last couple of months because actually, things are looking much much better with me. Daily average earnings are approximately 50% up on the last couple of months. My CPC is anywhere between 20p and 30p most days. At the moment I've had 11 clicks and my CPC is still 27p. I don't know why things are improving all of a sudden, however, the only difference is I put in an updated captcha system and now allow users to register and approve themselves. It seems that more people are coming to the forum at the moment. I also put my heading back in place on the homepage. Whether that's what's made the difference I really don't know, however it really is very noticeable. In fact, I have almost reached February's earnings and we are only halfway through the month.

@Ironside what do you mean by " I also put my heading back in place on the homepage."?

I've always had a page heading banner with a nice picture of a fish, something that explains what we do and also a registration button for people to click on which takes them straight to the registration page. Recently, I removed it because I wasn't accepting any more registrations, only by email if somebody wanted to join. However, I've since sorted out the captcha so now I can allow people to register without getting lots of spam. So I put the heading image/banner back in place which I think makes the homepage a lot more appealing. I'm also getting more activity on the forum now because I didn't realise there was a problem which was stopping people from registering. I don't know whether this has accounted for the change or not. My CPC is up to 34p now, and that's with increased clicks. Normally, CPC drops with the more clicks I get

Already overtaken February's finalised earnings and it still only the 17th of the month. CPC is miles better than it has been for a while. I'm at 17p CPC at the moment. Last night owls at 37p CPC and it hardly dropped all day.

I have decided to use blockadblock, I am wondering if this will affect ranking for my website?

New low for me today. For over 11 years we have earned well into 6 digits per year from adsense. December 18th I saw a huge drop earnings but I felt somehow it would be worked out. Traffic was strong and that always indicates a recovery. The March update started causing a drop in traffic. I am at a fraction of normal visits and lucky to break $50 in a day. Not sure what to do at this point. This is crazy.

I always thought content is king, well after the March update. One of our keywords has dropped from top 5. We have the best content, an 8k word article, it is well written cost us upward of $350, even after that it was proofread by myself and my partner and numerous other friends. By far this is the best content, as mentioned by users leaving comments on it.

Since the update, I see articles in the top 5 with about 500 to 600 words, there is no way you can get this topic understood with such low word count. To add more insult the articles are not even researched well. So how are they ranking ahead of us now? Well, most of these are aged news sites 14+ years. Our website is 5 years old. Other websites have the keyword in the domain, they are small niche sites.

After 3 years of ranking it's not good enough. Luckily we have other newer content starting to rank.

Kash1111

you will never understand the algorithm nobody will its weird

also 8k words thats wayyy to long I don't like reading long articles myself, I prefer short articles that get to the point as a read or web browser I like no more than 1 thousand words if im interested if the article is too long ill not read it.

Google used to have a such thing as an article too long warning.

@Kash1111 Not worth tbh. If a user refuses to turn off the adblocker, your bounce rate will increase and this could affect your ranking. You can try AdRecover.com

Google used to have a such thing as an article too long warning.

Right. I still have a warning for long articles on console, but it is for Google News.

It sounds like a very subjective assumption. I am sure that most publishers would say the same about their own content, but there are only 10 spots (or less) on the first page.

an 8k word article, it is well written cost us upward of $350

No hard feeling, but It doesn't mean anything. And as for the price, lot of so-call ghost writers are charging based on the number of words.

even after that it was proofread by myself and my partner and numerous other friends.

May be you should check advises from third parts and not just relatives and friends who will always be kinder in their review.

By far this is the best content, as mentioned by users leaving comments on it.

And how many users are leaving comments? (compared to the number of people reaching your page?) If you get 10 positive comments from 100 visitors, then, it can also be interpreted as 10% only of people found your content good...

Since the update, I see articles in the top 5 with about 500 to 600 words, there is no way you can get this topic understood with such low word count.

But may be users are getting the information they want within these 500/600 words. If they don't, then they'll just check on the next link, and so on. So your ranking is one thing, but if users are not ending on your page, it means they found what t hey wanted "above" you. So a the end, it means the content ranking above did the job.

Well, most of these are aged news sites 14+ years. Our website is 5 years old.

Older sites might have more authority that younger ones. I don't mean it's true, but if a site is covering a subject since 14 years, and is still here, and getting visitors, then you can guess they are doing a good job.

Even though Google won't rank our content in the top 5, it's included in the snippet preview at the top, probably because it has 100's of comments. I am not biasing here either, we like to write content that's well researched covering many topics that are related. The main keywords have a ms of 230k, but since the content is long it attracts thousands of longtails keywords.

BTW those news sites have the content only a few weeks, not 14 years. It just shows age and authority do matter for a website.

I have had the blockadblock on for 24 hours now, checking adx report, cpm rates have gone up and the highest earning in March so far. It could just be a coincidence...

So you are listed in first position, and you complain that your page is not listed a second time on the first page ?! Or may be I misunderstood.
