Yesterday was very good for me too. What I hate is that my traffic increased by 30% from July and I have 20% decrease in earnings. I was getting more on less traffic in June. While traffic is up from all sources, countries, instead of improvements, the earning decreased.

Again I would like to know if I remove the 320x250 and 728x90 ad unit from the header as they don't get enough click and I make most of the earning from clicks - will there be an increase in overall earning? As the CPC should go up when fewer ads on the site?

Personally, I think it's impossible to foresee what is going to happen until you try the new layout. It's not always about how money clicks an ad unit receives, it's about how much you receive for each click.. I have a particular responsive unit which I only place either underneath the heading of the page or directly below the first paragraph of text on the page. This ad unit doesn't get tons of hits, but I found that over the last few weeks I've found that it is often earning the most money per click.

If you are going to reduce the amount of ad units on your page then I think it would be a mistake not to have one at the top. Sometimes you have got to give them time to mature. I used to be very impatient and if nothing happened in the first few days I would change the layouts. I now give a new layout at least one month in order to determine how well it does. I'm pretty happy with my layouts at the moment, it's definitely increased earnings slightly so I'm leaving it as it is.

Earlier this month, I have seen those dating ads too. They disappeared and are back today again.

I am seeing highest RPM of the month today.

Lowest RPM I have ever seen on Adsense in the 10+ years I have been using it.
Dropped by more than 60% on the 10th and hasn't recovered.

I find it very convenient that Google has this 'scandal' over an employee's rant to divert media attention away from the possible collapse of one their main revenue sources.

13th August was okay while today (14th August) looks very bad so far.

Already today I have had my average number of clicks with an average of 5 cents per click, WTF?

Worst-ever day so far.

AWFUL. PATHETIC.

The CPC dropped drastically and RPM too. This is really upsetting me :(

@Redbar obviously the ads that are showing are a load of rubbish. Some of the ads that show on my website are a load of garbage, well, I think most of them are but obviously people are clicking on them. I'm not sure if there's a way to tell how much you earn per click because I earn money from impressions as well so even though it may register 67p for one click, it doesn't necessarily mean I've made that much money from one click. But I think some of my ads are earning pretty decent money, 50p or more in a lot of cases. I just wish I could get 20 clicks paying that much money.

@Mayankparmar have you checked to see where the majority of your traffic comes from?, I.e. mobile desktop or tablet. Are your AdSense units fixed sizes or are you using responsive?

Nice robbery again. Starting the day with about 4 euros. Hour later 1.80. At 9AM about 10, hour later 8. At 11AM 12, half hour later 10. It's only about 5 euros I see clawing back so far. At the end of the month another % and overall at the year probably more than 2000 euros.

Too bad there aren't much companies who can compete with Google.

@Ironside, I have fixed ad units. 320x250, 336x280 in articles. And 300x600 on the sidebar. My majority of viewers are from desktop, it's 60 % and 40% (mobile).

Have you tried putting a 300 x 600 in the first paragraph of text? For a while this worked really well for me.

@RunFun this behavior usually point to 1st level invalid clicks caused by misleading implementation or terrific traffic quality, as they resolve it fast and not at the end of the month :) You cant blame Google for everything....

@blazinec I assume by terrific you mean horrible and bad. Most native English speakers interpret the word terrific to the mean the opposite, good or great. I know that logically one expect the word to means something terrible since it shares the same root.

Slow day today, but overall the month is running about the same as August usually does.

In my view, there's probably not a lot of percentage in spending time chasing those rogue AdSense ads that won't let you click on 'em. Sounds like as fast as you block them, or Google blocks, them, they manage to come back on a new account and using new URLs (the URLs don't matter at all since they're not even clickable in the first place) Google is going to have to come up with a solution or the whole system crumbles. Actually, it's kind of a wonder that nobody thought of doing this before.

Here's rustybrick's update on it from this morning, if you haven't read it yet.

@NickMns thanks, it is probably cross-continent translation error from my side :) I was meaning BAD traffic, usually easy to check by low time on site, fast click on ad, high bounce rate on advertise's site and another stuff. I have seen this mostly while buying traffic from mobile apps, when dashboard was able to jump from zero to tens of USD multiple times per day... This is the real ,,terrific,, traffic, depends how you look at it..... Sorry for misunderstanding

My day has continued disastrously with even US clicks averaging just 7 Cents a time, whatever they "thought" they had resolved last week, they evidently did not insofar as I am concerned.

I have no other optional network to go to therefore if it continues for much longer I may just pull all ad slots until they get their problems sorted out.

I've started to move slots to affiliate programs and media.net.

As much as the non-clickable ads may be part of this issue, I don't believe that it is the whole story.
From what I can see, there has been a shortage of inventory all summer.

This may be because advertisers are moving away from Google, or it may be that Google has become so good at filtering out monetisable leads, that the traffic that still makes it to webmaster's sites just doesn't convert anymore. Or it could be that Adsense has become so complex that nobody knows how to fix it.

Probably a bit of both. Google diverts the best paying ads to its own properties and there's now much less overflow for third-party publishers. The dearth of high-value clicks in the last few months is particularly noticeable.

Today is a better day for me, with US RPM up over $6. But that's not going to save what's been a gloomy few weeks.

It seems to me that the entire AdSense eco-structure is out of contrrol.

My AdSense days are now UK 24 hours, not west coast 24 hours, Monday was my worst-ever day since the inception of AdSense, in the FIRST hour of Tuesday I have earned more than all day Monday.

That is NOT normal, something is seriously wrong G.

After a horrendous 6th through 8th, EPC is back up and CTR has increased. Having the best RPM in months. Advertisers are back. Not sure if it will last but I'll take it while I can.

Yesterday I had almost same CPC as we all had a few days ago, it was 20% better. Things are not improving and it is actually getting worse. My page views are up, earning is down drastically and I have no idea what's wrong.
