Is anybody finding that media.net brings in as much or more than AdSense?

No, unfortunately it's not the case for me.

Will someone kick-start the USA for me? Plenty of PVs yet 0 clicks so far!

Not sure what's happened to day, AdSense has hardly got off the ground so far.

Media net is about equal to my adsense, but I have 6- 300x250 banners on my side bar spaced out. All my adsense is in my content. I love media net, you just have to target it for the right platforms. Mobile users won't see my media net ads unless they scroll far past my content, most my traffic is mobile. Then all my Adsense ads get clicked..,

Interesting, I will try to add more to my sidebar. I normally had one block inside the article or at the bottom of the article. Sidebars never did well for me, but may be if I add like 3 blocks there it will make up losses from Adsense this month? I sure hope so.

Since yesterday I'm plagued by this type of ads.

Very low CPM, it's like Link ads!

Media.net only does well for me during my highest traffic months, but it never approaches AdSense. Still good for a tidy sum though.

This week has been very up and down.

I like media.net, too. Its RPM has been increasing the last couple of months thanks to better targeting.

Media.net sent me an email asking me to give me another try a few days ago. Right after that adsense took off. RPMs have reached ridiculous levels (THANK YOU GOOGLE!) and I've not been able to seriously even consider media.net. I want to, but i'm in the double digits for RPM right now...up from less than a dollar.

Can't touch a good thing, and it's going to be a wonderful christmas!

@MacroDean I am seeing Media.net making a lot more than my Adsense. A little bit more than double.

Now the weird thing is I have built a lot of sites similar to one I am working on now and the Adsense has always been around 3x what I am seeing now.

Traffic good - Google ads sucking so far today

I added more media.net ads, so now it's 1 ad in content and 3 in sidebar. Despite what one might expect, my earnings dropped. I felt this every time I added more than one Media.net ad, I don't know why. To be honest, I keep Media.net active on my sites just to have some alternative should something ever happen to my Adsense account. Otherwise I probably wouldn't bother.

Adsense is still terrible. We have only 5 days left so I guess I am getting very little for this month. I only hope that next month will return to its previous levels.

Revenue looking good today.

728x90 out performing all other ad units. 300x250 second best.

336x280 is getting too many weird looking ads. Used to be best ad unit.

I have the 728x90 switch to 300x250 on mobile.

In the last 2 days payment was atrocious...
Another big problem is that text ads seems to be predominant in the last 2 months...

I've found that it does best when Adsense is predominant on a page and media.net is supplemental. Showing more than one media.net ad per page often means duplicate ads. It also took some time for media.net to start performing well. Getting the targeting right took at least a month in the beginning. As the RPM has increased, I've added it to more pages.

Fingers crossed however the last four days I have seen a 30% increase in daily earnings with Friday and Saturday's EPC much better than average.

I expected a slow first half of the month as that is how October always is for me. As it turns out it was a slow two thirds but it looks like for me the advertisers flicked the switch on their advertising around the 20th and the figures I am seeing may not only bring October inline with predictions but fill me with optimism for November and December which are my two big months. Of course it could go all wrong in the blink of an eye but I haven't see figures like these for a few years.

5th consecutive day with ctr, cpc and rpm all above average with, interestingly, only one day above average PVs.

Hopefully this will continue to the end of the month since the start was abysmal and from the thrid week of November my earnings generally go downhill until the New Year.

I'm quite juiced about the past few days. Thrilled is another word. Jolted is another. Time for a Big Mac as I can now afford one.

Pretty crappy results compared to last year. CPC prices WAY down - same with CTR. But CPC more concerning.

CTR well down on Monday however CPC holding at present therefore not too bad a day.

Regardless of what I do and how well I rank I can't get traffic to increase and especially so with Google serving so many pointless US sites in their UK results.

When I write pointless I mean US sites ranking for widget products which have been produced in Europe and then exported to the USA.

The Big G seems to have made the AD box on search results just a tad smaller and made the orange color a tad lighter.

All designed to make the ads look like search results, leaving less meat on the table for publishers that use adsense and other forms of advertising.

A good example of this is Search "hotels in" any major city.

Top page black Carousel full of hotels, click on hotel and instead of going to hotel site, you are taken to another search page full of ads.

Next two or three G ads that look like results.

Next Hotels on Google

To the right map with hotels. Click on map it take you to search page with ads.

Below map more G ads

Finally below the fold search results (mega brands)

So in order to get to your web site and see adsense the visitor has to run an gauntlet of ads and diversions.

Off course not all search results are this bad (yet)

Bottom line more money for Google less for publisher using adsense

Breeks - this shouldn't come as any surprise. Google is no longer a technology company full of geeks sleeping in campervans in the Google parking lot doing good for the online world. It's just another big corporation run by accountants in which bottom line profit and taking care of shareholders are the only considerations. Some members in the SEO forum now refer to the company as Geevil.

Changing the subject, since moving to responsive sites for mobile users (and after pressure from Google to do so) my Adsense experience has gone from appalling to dire. I wasn't sure why. A report I've just seen suggests that your CTR will plunge if you aren't at the number 1 position in the mobile search rankings. The number 1 position will get three times more clicks than the number 2 position.

The effort it took to convert my site to responsive design was my final effort in trying to rescue my Adsense earnings, which have fallen off a cliff this year. However, making the change has only made things worse.

End of the month?

Had a pretty good last couple of days. All in all I'm down by about 5% last month but down about 25% of last October.

I really didn't need a Google reminder of what I had earned the last 28 days v the previous 28 days at just over 11% down and all due to one of my worst monthly starts ever whilst Google did "whatever"!
