January 2012 AdSense Earnings & Observations

I had a good run in 2011 - managed to add one more figure to my monthly AdSense earnings.

January historically is not a bad month for me. What are your hopes and plans for January and the new year?

Half an hour too early according to WebmasterWorld server clock :)

It's just horrible across all metrics for me. My logs tell me my traffic is almost back to normal...AdSense figures totally disagree.

Yesterday's earnings were 10% of what they used to be yet my inbox is full of B&M project enquiries!

10% comparing to what period?

HuskyPup

10% of not so many years ago, yesterday was 65% of last week alone. I wrote in December that I would give it until next week to see what happens and then make a decision whether to remove AdSense altogether or not.

I have some small sites that are not even earning enough to pay for their yearly domain registration fee yet only a couple of years ago they would cover that 10-20 fold.

They still generate good B&M enquiries but it's pointless promoting Google Ads if all they are going to do is take up unnecessary space.

I was talknig about a 75% drop in rpm in the last 48h or so. This is usually the time when things start to pick up after holidays.

yes. yesterday's earnings sucked but today's are double. Early on in January, and I am seeing a roller coaster. Poor earnings one day, and double the next.

The earnings for the 4th of Jan still down. I'm pulling the plug. I've had enough!

Well January looks horrible so far, Greedy Google wants to show all good ads for themselves.

My traffic recovered after Christmas from the November-December slump but then EPC immediately dropped. I guess it's the throttling effect discussed last October
[webmasterworld.com...]
Wonder how long it will continue?

Every three months or so they drop the CPC. I guess it's that time again. I'm wondering where are they going to stop....

Terrible day. Things tanked about two weeks ago, on the 21st of Dec, but today is about the worst.

The CPC is way too low compared to December.
I need your opinion: How much can you earn with Adsense from a wallpapers website with 13k traffic/day ?

HuskyPup

EPC tanked for me too on Thursday, UK clicks were almost non-existent.

Had my best day of the month yesterday thanks to some new content being picked up by Yahoo. Looking at the first week of Jan, CPC and RPM are generally down from December but that's to be expected.

I see Valentine's Day displays up in the stores (already!) so hopefully that will stir some online browsing, clicking and buying.

Looks like the twiddleverts have been let loose to play with the Adsense controls again. Absolutely dire results for the last few days.

I'm strongly considering building a search engine system that will be far superior to Google's in the Irish and UK market. If these guys are banjaxing Adsense to this extent, how long before the same mindset is allowed to banjax Google's search? And today's earnings: absolutely dire again.
