Last day of August was my best day ever, and though today is a long way behind that, it still looks like it's going to be an excellent day. Having a big vegetable garden, and a variety of fruit and nut trees (I'm saving a fortune on food since I moved to the country), I reckon I could live off my Adsense earnings if I no longer wanted to supplement my income. It's a nice safety net to have, though I'd never want to rely on Adsense has my sole means of making a living - way too unpredictable.
Something definitely looks wrong for my sites. Page Impressions are way out of kilter compared to my logs, Thursday was more like a weekend day with all metrics down and today so far I may as well switch AdSense off, 5 clicks and USD 1.00, pointless!
Come on, the hamsters must be back from their holidays.
They've also got Thanksgiving in October or November.
And this weekend (first Monday in September) seems pretty serious business in the US. Parades and stuff. Not sure what for, but nobody's working. Noticed even my business is dead - I'm heading out for the afternoon as a result.
95% of my revenue seems to come from clicks in the USA, though strangely I never seem to be affected by holidays, natural disasters, and the like. I've had a great start to September thus far, and my first few clicks of today, are paying great too. Historically I have noticed things do pick up a little more in the run up to Christmas, though my earnings tend not to fluctuate much due to seasons.
Friday ended up ok thanks to someone having a furious clicking session on one part of one of my sites...I guess they couldn't find what they were looking for from a public supplier.
Once again, what are you guys comparing... day to day against month to month or the current day against an average for the month?
Yep...I do lots of easy comparisons, the current day v the month's average, quarter or even the year to date, sometimes against the same period last year or even going back to 2004 just to check whether it is, or is not, a seasonal thing.
Over the years my earnings have been mostly affected by Google's changes such as the click area or more recently Panda.
When I worked a 9 to 5 job years ago, before starting this website thing, I loved all of our U.S. holidays. Now that I have my own business, I don't like holidays! I have to work on them, anyway, and traffic usually drops on them (and the week of them). I want all U.S. citizens at their desks, at their computers all the time!
Have had an awesome week so far, and a great weekend. Something really weird is going on this morning though. My click rate is about 400% beyond average for the time of day, which is a little concerning, and each of those clicks is valued at a mere $0.02. Don't know what's going on - hope somebody isn't messing about on my site.
