July was a bit of a roller coaster for me but with August being a big holiday month I wonder what it will (not) bring?

So far, better than July. Targeting still 50% borked.

I notice that the targeting is still spot on for my established sites, but my two newer ones (launched in May) it's still pretty bad. Dunno if it was a glitch but one of them was not displaying ads at all most of yesterday (at least for me, in three different browsers) The ads are back today, but they are generic and not targeted at all. Hope that's not what my users see.

I don't know exactly what happened but Satuday/Sunday my revenue double compared to my average. Today as of 2 oclock I'm doubled and the day is early.

What holidays on August?
Ok, this is a generalisation so don't shoot me down however much of Europe is on annual holidays with schools and many factories closed.
Sure some factories stagger their holidays but from the third week of July to the first week of September much of Europe is on break time.
I do know that many other northern hemisphere countries also time their major breaks around this period as well, you only have to look at school academic terms to realise this:
When I worked in Italy we had the entire month of August off work:-)

Yea I'd always heard France pretty much shuts down in August; dunno if that is true but I'm sure Leo does.
My ecommerce clients (all US) are all having very slow days today - I think people are just plain off on vacation.

CTR is down - new low. EPC is down - new low. eCPM is down - new low.
Targeting still 50% borked.
And apparently, getting more borked as we proceed. Just mind-boggling that Google would continue to do this. .

. It does indeed ;-)..( except the tourist trade and the tourist areas , although this year very wet July has meant that less money was spent in the areas away from Paris ) ..and begins the wind down in early to mid July ..government departments get "relaxed" towards the end of June..
Restart the machine ..September
Netmeg ..search for "Carcassone Fireworks"..I think you'll like the shows ..this year was exceedingly good :)

I dread these threads, yet here I am. Impressions climb and CTR is at an all time low. Click dump coming?

Factories? You mean where people work? You probably need to go to China to visit the U.S. factories these days.

Same here. This CTR simply defies the odds. It's impossibly low. I'm ready to don my tinfoil hat, it's so low... :|

August started a bit better than july ended. Anyway, adsense, mostly because of targeting, is turning into a big mess :(

Heck, is this not a jump start on the next "I got screwed" thread? This time with "August" as the lead in? Kiddies... it's all changed. There are no "methods" or "directions" we can take. Panda made sure of that. And we haven't figured out Panda...

Just blocked about 226 TPs to see if there will be any difference today. I've even experimented with colour changes and position changes. Doubt if anything will come of it.

Fortunately one url channel tripled its average and dragged my earnings out of the mire otherwise it would have been carnage...I've just about lost all enthusiasm for developing and the very humid weather where I am is pi$$ing me off just as much!

So, it's all about summer vacations and Panda? Does no one here look at stock markets?
The 1st August was a better than average day, but only because of one freak high-paying click. Apart from that, not great. Page impressions are still OK but CTR is very low.
It's Ramadan month, which may not affect many people but the majority of my visitors (and the vast majority of my clicks) are from Muslim Malaysia. I'm not sure what effect - if any - Ramadan has on Internet usage. It appears that people are looking, but not clicking.
While keeping an eye on my AdSense earnings (peanuts), I'm also following my stock market portfolio (big potatoes) very closely because of all the sovereign debt problems at the moment.
With markets tumbling by huge amounts every day, it is reminiscent of 2008 when everyone was acting as if the world were about to end. It's pretty depressing and there is still no end in sight.
With the economy in such a woeful state, I'm not surprised that Adsense has also died. AdSense is simply another business and people's buying (clicking) behaviour is determined by the economy. Looking at how much money I have 'lost' in recent weeks, I am in no mood at the moment to go out on a spending spree. I suspect that many people feel the same way.
I thought that after the financial crisis of a few years ago, the economy would have started to sort itself out by now. However, as more news comes out about how much Western countries are in debt it seems that the economy will take a very long time to recover.
