August 2011 AdSense Earnings & Observations

July was a bit of a roller coaster for me but with August being a big holiday month I wonder what it will (not) bring?

Easily my worst day of the month, lowest earnings since first week of July, everything down, especially EPC, and today is looking even worse!

Does it seem stuck this afternoon? Hasn't moved much in 3-4 hours.

Stuck and dire...I'm only halfway to Xmas Day earnings or to put it another way, 20% of my post-Panda average and 8% of pre-Panda...nothing less than pathetic and pointless if it were to continue on weekdays.

Maybe my stats seem stuck because of almost non-existent CTR. But I also noticed that ad targeting is not what it should be today.

Pretty good stuff.

Probably because Google gives away those free Adwords coupons, hence attracting many Adwords beginners.

Sometime during my night a bit of the click-dammed river was unblocked which allowed a trickle of very low EPCs through to my main sites, fortunately some of my smaller sites had several very good value clicks which dragged the sorry AdSense a$$ off the barrel bottom.

Summer, AdSense, Holidays, Economies, Wars, Perceived Uncertainties.?.?.?

When I was at grammar (high) school in the early 60s teachers told us we'd be having a life of relaxtion and free from financial worries by the 90s ... I'm having to work harder now than I've ever done simply to keep the status quo ... start jokes here:-)

Sadly for a lot of us youtubers who were hit by an algorithm change last month...that same penny was cut in half...nice...

I have to say, August is a little bit better for me than July. eCPM is up, and traffic is a little better thanks to school being in session. Also seeing more foreign traffic after Panda was applied internationally.

However, I know enough not to get a big head about it because it can all fade away so fast.

Now what have they broken? My largest url channel after thousands of page impressions has a 0.04% CTR! Now that is definitely taking the urine.

Can anyone tell me how to stop getting email alerts from this website, I made the mistake of clicking the box that says " email notification of new replies " and now I can't stop getting emails , even though I have unclicked every box possible..thanks .

Yep, I made that mistake once but can't remember how I stopped it or whether the thread died a natural death...good luck.

Observation:

I've contacted adsense support in oder to know why I've lost 40% of my usual # clicks, but the revenue is almost stable (on the low side).

The response is that a big advertiser is present with CPM ads on Placement Targeting, but the ads have a very low click rate.

Go figure. Just hit my first average day earnings in over a month. Hope whatever is going on continues.
