My traffic has been increasing the last four days. If it keeps up, it won't be long until it's back where it was pre-April 11, 2011. BUT, my CTR is nowhere near what it used to be. The ads on my site look extremely well targeted. It's just that no one is clicking. I have to have 3.5 times the CTR I have now. I don't understand it.
Yesterday was the HIGHEST daily earning I've seen since 2006.
Traffic is up. Most importantly, RPM is excellent - I'm seeing a 50% increase compared to early this year. And when RPM increases, earnings shoot up.
I guess when Adsense bamboozled your earnings, they shoved it towards my niche :o)
What I did: Simply digged to my analytics account to see
- What type of content in terms of topic generates the best traffic and most Adsense clicks, and made more of those making sure my article is way better than competitors.
My highest trafficked page (and keyword) this month is a post I did that appears as #7 in Google for its keyword, but gets a huge number of traffic/clicks because all the others are just top 7 or top 10, while mine is a top 20 2-page article with 5,000 words. I hope the post moves up to #1 in time
- went back to the referral site that brought me the most users who click on Adsense. I got lazy and stopped my presence in what used to be my biggest source of Adsense traffic a few years back (it was time consuming). I reactivated my account, got busy again, and now I'm seeing the results again
Reduced the number of Google Ads I had on some of my highest rating pages yesterday, and just have a image banner at the top of the page - it's turning out some great, highly relevant ads at the moment, and so far looks like it could be promising in terms of earnings.
Yesterday was a really, really good day. Today is starting where yesterday left off. CTR is almost double what it's been and not because of a lag in visit stats. It's looking like the third record month in a row at this point.
Actually, the changes (thus far) haven't seemed to have made any difference. Still if I can reduce Ads and still make the same, that in itself isn't a bad thing. Am also having a play with colours - I'm making the Adsense links a brighter shade to see if they entice more clicks. Feels like fishing for clicks, and not knowing what bait to use.
Yesterday was a good day - no idea if it was influenced by my changing the link colours. No idea what today will bring - doesn't look great thus far, but things always change. Fortunately I'm making money elsewhere, so Google Ads is no longer my sole income.
The hamsters returned and I ended up with a precisely post-Panda average August day!
However so far today, apart from page impressions, I am flat lining, zeroes across the board, not a darned thing yet...ok, I know it's early'ish but I've never seen this before...phut, phut, phut, click, click, click:-)
Not seeing any change from last month. Still down 65% from pre-Panda. I did just today allow all certified ad networks back into the mix after I blocked them for the last 30 days. We'll see if it changes anything. Blocking them all gave me a slight boost at first...then it fell back again.
