Hello Everyone: I ported the thread located here: [webmasterworld.com...]
as we were off topic in a few areas.

I'm highly interested in continuing the discussion about what other Publishers are seeing in 2011 with regard to their adsense earnings over years prior.

As I indicated, I noticed a substantial drop in earnings during the first few days of January 2011, after a record breaking December 2010.

Anyone noticing this trend is encouraged to share their feedback.

@manny123: thanks

@all: however I disagree with the way this issue was dealed on the forum. In my opinion it deserved more releavance. An ad-hoc thread would have been more effective.

Inserting this wide-spread adsense drop on the default, monthly "month year Adsense earnings" thread doesn't highlight how important and devasting this issue is for some users...

Actually I think this is the first time ever such a thread has existed for such dramatic falls and it came about rather than including it in with the AdSense Stuck thread.

I was probably the first one to start complaining back in December and the band of complaints has just gotten bigger and bigger, with maybe some posts which have not been so relevant, however it is the first time since AdSense was launched that so many have seen such catastrophic figures.

Any suggestions for a better way of doing this would be a good idea.

And as if to prove just how out of control everything is my EPC so far today is at 50% of my new 2011 average. After the past few days I thought I may just beat December's earnings, I definitely will not if this continues.

FWIW, and obviously this is just one person's experience, my own sites are up 20% so far over January 2010 (with a few days left in the month)

My advertisers appear to be mostly local (to my states) small businesses; I doubt they're going off to 3rd party networks.

On the advertising side (and I don't advertise in the same niches as I publish) my budgets and my CPCs are going up. These are all nation-wide clients; no international except for Canada. No 3rd party networks here either (other than Bing and maybe Facebook)

Maybe the really really big guys are flocking to these third party networks direct, but nobody I'm seeing is. Some of my peers who also advertise for clients aren't seeing any mass flocking to 3rd party networks either. And the really really big guys aren't generally high paying (per CPC) advertisers either.

This cannot be advertiser related, it has to be Stupid Pricing out of control across specific sites/niches/genres/whatevers otherwise yesterday why would I have seen pre Thanks Giving click values yet today they're totally in the pan?

For Jan 1-27 2011 v 2010 I'm now down 26% with the same number of clicks and increasing traffic!

And insofar as my best url channel is concerned today its EPC is averaging 20% of yesterday...yep, totally normal Google!

I can NOT rely on Adsense any more.
Such a huge fluctuation of 50% from one day to another day in eCPM with the same traffic is NOT normal:-((

Fallen by about 20%. That's all I gotta say.

Not a good thing to wake up to. Seeing my eCPM at only 10% or yesterday's!

This whole month, I've noticed Tuesdays to be the days when they flick the switch - when I see sudden 50% reduction in ecpm over Monday's. 4 weeks in a row is NOT a co-incidence. Until today that is.

andrewshim, don't forget one of those mondays would have been MLK day and a lot of people would not be working.

HuskyPup

Since my previous post my actual clicks have gone up by 50% and my earnings by 300%!

Just what is going on?

Yes, but my Mondays this month have been stable. It's the Tuesdays that I see a flick of the switch - clear as daylight. If I plotted a graph, you would clearly see Tuesdays' ecpm dip to around 40-55% of Mondays'.

And today (at current time) is probably the worst it's been in years!

It's not an issue with the update interval, it's earnings. Earnings are stuck. That glass ceiling is at floor level now.

Oh I hear you, it's been miserable since thanksgiving for me. CTR meltdown.

Yes, Thanksgiving Day was the turning point before my present situation also.

my turning point was exactly on 01/01/2011 at 00:00:01 ! (yes, right after the last whistle stopped making noise and the last person stopped clapping his end to celebrate the new year)

Dear G,
You always tell about copy/paste content websites. You suggest us clear original content etc.
Yes you are right, we want good websites too.

After hard work we build original websites BUT you pay us less.

Building copy/paste websites is much easier than making original websites.
So, in fact you suggest us making bad things not good things.
You do not want internet better, you want your own good only.

Sorry but, if you are going to pay us less, then number of copy/paste websites may increase. People has to survive with or without you.
You always tell the opposite but you award bad things.

Today our revenue is decreasing, tomorrow your earning may decrease too.
This is internet, anything can happen at any time in this world.
Puslishers were born before G and any other companies. In the long run, publishers ( website builders) always win the game

If it is correct what G says:
With more ads competing to appear on your pages, your earnings potential should increase over time.

I have a lot of ads in my ad review center under allowed ads which compete to appear on my pages.
Then why the heck, my CPC and eCPM are getting lower and lower?

I am finding that there is nothing which I opt into or out of which is making a difference. Google has flatlined.

Yup totally crappy here too. Traffic at all time high but super low CPC eCPM and CTR.

Ever since I allowed IABs and Placement ads on Wednesday I have had 3 much better and consistent days with eCPM etc to just below my pre-Thanksgiving levels.

So consistent that Page Impressions on Thursday and Friday were only 26 pages different, 1 click more with CTR identical and with eCPM USD 0.16 difference!

Maybe, just maybe my metrics are returning to normal? Certainly I'm seeing better values all round.

Lucky YOU :-)
I have done all, opt in, opt out, nothing changed, it gets worse and worse every day.
Maybe I am smart priced!
How can we find out, if one is smart priced?

Same here. I turned on IABs and Placement ads on Friday, and new ads are all over the sites, which has increased ctr by 25%. The cpc is still dismal, but the higher ctr is making up for it. Much better than the first part of this month.

I've already earned 50% of yesterday (doesn't say too much since it was the second lowest day all month). 16 hours left to go. Yay.
