AdSense: Ad Review Center has gone mad!

Influx of unrelated advertisers targeting my website

I decided to post this now that it's been four days and nothing has changed. When I check my ad reveiew center for targeted ads, I'm getting 12 or more new advertisers UNRELATED to my website (teeth whitening, spa treatments, etc.), each day. I'm spending a lot of time checking and blocking these ads from showing. Is anyone else seeing this since Nov. 1, or is it my issue?

I just looked in mine out of curiosity - its not something I do often - and was surprised that I have duplicates of the same advertiser over and over - one dating advertiser repeats like a dozen times.
Not useful if I were actually serious about going through and approving or blocking advertisers.

I've been getting ads in Chinese, Russian, you name it! I have no idea what a lot of the ads are. And I've been getting about 10 pages of ads a day to approve or disapprove. This has never happened before! It's ready to drive me nuts. NUTS I tell ya!

WARNING: If anyone still has 'Run Ads immediately' checked, put that on Hold for 24 hours. I just found 4 advertisers whose pages are 'Malware effected' (warning given by Chrome browser) in the review list.
Now this is not a joke Google

Absolutely, in the Ad Review Center I'm seeing quite a few dangerous looking domains as well, some domains mentioning hacking in the URL. Rather alarming to see.

Also saw some ads promoting events held in the past - January 2009... quite clearly labelled with that date on the image ads.

Normally I would get 1 or 2 new ads site targeting me per month - I'm getting about 50-100 per day since Nov3!

90% of these are either Korean, Chinese, Russian, Poland, Brazil etc.

My site visitors are 90% english speakers.

I was almost about sending some 4 letter words to Gorg in their block this ad group feedback window. This newest advertiser placed 14 ads leading to his parked domain.

More dead url ads. One strange one with Japanese characters and a www, example, com url. (url defanged by changing dots to commas.)

I also had to block about a dozen advertisers with MFA sites or 404s.

Something is definitely wrong here.

For those of you who haven't checked yet do so now.
My earnings had dropped 50% & when I blocked these sites the daily average earnings doubled.

Here's a quick rundown of 2. options to protect yourself.

1. Hold ads for 24 hours, then block them before they go live. Unfortunately, you may have to block ads that seem legit because visiting the URLs may harm your computer.

2. Block ALL Google certified ad networks. The fact is, we have no idea who was comprimised and where these ads are originating...Google or third party ads.

Does anyone recall when Google introduced all these Certified Ad Networks to AdSense publishers? If it's been a few months now and there aren't many people experiencing a noticeable increase in revenue as a result, then what's the downside of just blocking them all?

Sounds like Google's mind has been infiltrated. I feel bad for you Adsense folks, but as for Google, what goes around comes around

Yeah, and even ads for big name well known companies and products can lead to 404s.

I'm now just pretty much blocking everything that shows up in the list.

What a mess.

I've been following this thread, but so far I haven't seen anything at all different or unusual in mine.

Earlier today I was thinking about hout few members were posting in this thread.

From the number of posters, I wonder if this is affecting a pretty limited number of accounts.

@netmeg, you may want to see what ads may already be running on your sites.

It seems now that about every 2 hours I have 10 to 20 more to block. I have to check frequently just to keep up. I have the feeling G is going to take a while (as they often do) to resolve this issue.

Well, my account is affected too & I have to check ad center 4 times a day. My site is in Russian so I suppose the problem has international character. There are many domains for sell, 404 errors etc.

This is so bad now, I'm go to rem,ove targeting from all of my channels until this is fixed, my eCPM and CTR are crap already because of this, so why allow page targeting when this is what's killing me.

Removed targeting also until this is resolved. Maybe a coincidence, but CTR has been noticeably down since the beginning of the month.

@frakilk, my CTR and eCPM went way down as well. It's been over an hour since I removed targeting, and I haven't received any new ads...yet, so I'm hoping this is the solution. Also my eCPM shot up, and my CTR went up slightly. Now I wait.

I have been watching ever since this item appeared. No changes.

This definitely seem to be affecting many! But only a few notice them as there are not many keen followers of what gets displayed as ads on their sites.

Here is one more thing that i notice. It is blocks chosen as "text only" are affected the most than the "text/image" blocks. How about others? Are you noticing the spam in both and where do you see the most?

zuses

I see spam in both, but I suppose that because of as a a rule there are more text adds in my niche they seem to be more obtrusive.

When I said spam, I meant those that leads to 404 pages or parked domains.

Oh yes, I can see a lot of text adds and a lot of banners that leads to 404 pages. As for parked domains - only text. But as a matter of fact today is OK -maybe because I opt out from one category.

Hmm..thanks for sharing your experience.these 404s could as well be a technical glitch on the adsense platform. If that be true, advertisers will be concerned.

Partly they are: yesterday I've got banners from Microsoft Windows online leading to 404s, but today they are working OK.

None today and earnings are back up...that was quite a mess, and I doubt there will be any explaination.

I checked a few days back and it was a total mess. 100's if not 1,000's of ads waiting. Mostly foreign language which was of no help and I couldn't do a thing about it and gave up.

Today?

There are no new ads to be reviewed at this time

I don't know what's happening but CTR still sux big time.
