Anyone making serious money from adsense?

I'm trying hard to attempt to make a living out of websites, but I'm finding as the traffic has creeped up and up over the months, its hardly effecting my daily earnings. (I does seem to me that the more clicks I get, lower the CPC - which I know plenty of people have already dicussed at great lengths.)

My question is; are there really people out there making real money from Adsense? (like over $100 daily) and what sort of (real) visits numbers do I need before I'm able to acheive this?

.003 per unique on my website I think when I ran adsense ads. Which market you are in means a lot on what you get per visitor.

My sites make 0.5 cent / visitor / day from AdSense. Is this below average?

My main site averages one tenth of a cent per visitor from AdSense. Once I finish building my current project I'm working on I'm going to experiment with other forms of monetization on my main site.

If I can make over $5 a day, I will be happy. I have been averaging at around $125 - 150 a month for the last 3 months.

When you guys calculate the page impressions per day, do you include forum visitors? because I can easily get over 15k from my forums, but I heard forums pay very bad.

Otherwise, I have about 4,000 daily page impressions. Is that good enough? other things being the same, would my earnings pass $10 if I get my page impressions to at least 10k per day?

Thanks

I currently make under $.5 per day from my site, but my site's traffic is good, I don't know how to improve the CTR.

definitely depends on topic and visitor quality.

on my site:
5,000 to 7,000 visitors/day = $30-40 average daily

4.8 cents per unique. Category; home building/ home improvement. I imagine that could be low considering the state of the industry. Just started adsense in February. Been very satisfied. I wonder what it could be when the housing market recovers.

I'm at your threshold pretty much, $100 a day with a 20,000 Alexa site/forum and 30,000 unique daily visitors, so that's about 0.3 penny per unique visitor, not great, but then what else is there out there ?

Anyone know of good optimization techniques ?

I do sell ads directly to advertisers or ad agencies. I'm sure you can make good money with GOOG but if you want to make real money you have to figure out how to sell ads directly.

Yes, over $100 daily is possible (I make a lot more). You will need a quality website and at least 10.000 visitors per day.

Januuski, Great suggestion! Do you have any suggestions of sources for learning the process of selling ad space directly to advertisers?

Try contacting some larger ad agencies. They need to be familiar with your product. Have competitive rates. We charge anywhere from $2 to 15 per CPM per ad.

These days I do see demand for geo targeted banner ads. If you can deliver ads based on user location you can increase your chances. For example: AT&T was running campaign in Philly and we were able to deliver requested impressions to the users from Philly area. Second advertiser (car maker) was targeting Los Angeles. Third Advertiser wanted west coast traffic. You get the picture. If you can do that you can score some nice campaigns.

These days it is even easier as you can use Google Ad Manager to serve your ads and the Ad Manager has this functionality.

That's almost exactly what I get, too... a few years ago it was double that.

Januuski - what do you consider the minimum traffic level (in terms of impressions or uniques) to be able to do that? People have given me all kinds of numbers from reasonable (500k impressions/month) to insane (2M uniques/month). What's your take?

Over $100/day is possible with a much smaller volume than 10k visitors per day... less than half that much. Its also possible to make much less than $100 on 10K visitors/day. The point is, you can't generalize without being specific about niches and other site/page dynamics.

This thread was motivating! I love it when these type of threads come along and show us what is possible.

I make a little bit, but sheesh, Khensu and Markus.... wow, you've inspired me to work harder :)

Adsense has tumbled significantly in the last six months to where 10,000 users no longer gets us the $100 it used to (it actually did for quite a while).

Now earnings are virtually in line with a $1 per 1,000 unique visitors.

I'm still getting a little over .01 per visitor. $1 per 1,000 would be terribly depressing.

if only i have 10000 visitors per day, i will make about 1k easily with my current ecpm.

based on my experience i believe when i have that amount of traffic, i will be smart priced and my ecpm will drop to less than 50% of what i am currently have.

Try 16x less, not just 50% less.

Two of our sites that deal with the same topic actually have a 16x eCPM discrepancy. One is tiny compared to the other and, surprise surprise, it earns 16x per visitor what the big site does.

But overall the big site still brings in considerably more revenue because its ads are more diversified (naturally more networks want to work with the big guy, etc).
