Zineb from Google at #smx Munich about the mobile ranking update: is going to have a bigger effect than penguin and panda! [twitter.com...] .
In case you know someone who hasn't heard, you might want to forewarn them of the impending intensity of this.

I wonder if the algorithm will allow a quicker reprieve for those that go under, but are mobile friendly afterwards, or, if it makes those who are putting in late changes more vulnerable, as the algorithm might be baking already, as the deadline looms.

Anyone you know not heard / caring ; other thoughts ?

@ jimbanks - My carrier gives me unlimited 4g data and unlimited everything else for $45 a month (T-Mo) but I have a couple discounts in play.

OK - first signs of the update are in. One of the keywords I rank for on the second spot just got washed to page 2. Not because my website is not mobile friendly but because the main event site got 8 (yes eight!) SERP results for the query. Seeing similar results for 4-5 more events I usually rank well for. Huge brand bias. Lets see if this sticks.

We had a massive spike in traffic yesterday so I got really excited thinking it was an early boost based on this new update.

It was just a ghost referral gone haywire.
:(

Don't think there's too much difference for me this morning (based in the UK).

No change here at all for my searches in the UK, informational sites.

And I noticed that if you type in "cheap flights" in the UK the Google flight search box is taking pride of place above the first scroll.

So much for concerns about the EU antitrust issue.

@dereksmalls5

You can block those in your .htaccess - I had about 4/5 of them at one point for multiple clients - 0 seconds on site and 100% bounce rate, proper messed with our Anaytics reports. I have noticed one or two more starting to appear so I have scheduled to eliminate those too.

Not noticing much here either - UK based
