I sure hope Google realizes that when us paying customers (I'm a long time Adwords customer)are finally put out of business, that much of their income will also stop.

I'm in the process of removing Adsense from certain parts of my main website. Because of the loss of traffic I had to find alternatives that generate more income per visitor and I found some. Collateral damage for Google ... if it wasn't because of the terrible serps I would never have looked for alternative/better income sources.

Bizzare traffic today, 200-300 people per hour on site then bang. 40 people in one hour, then 200 for an hour then 50-60 for the next hour. Moz weather is HOT. Your broke goog.

@ chrisv1963

"Because of the loss of traffic I had to find alternatives that generate more income per visitor and I found some" > could you give us a hint? ;-)

@chalky - I'm seeing the exact same patterns...I watched live on GART traffic build up to 20, then 30 visitors on the site all at the same time...seconds later it dropped like a rock to zero and is now floundering with 1 or 2 live visitors. Very un-natural patterns. I am also on Cloudflare, and blocking Russia, Ukraine, China and most other sources of bad traffic, so what I'm seeing is mostly US and Europe.

I'd have to compare what is happening to the old game of Whack-a-Mole, once you start getting good traffic, some mechanism reliably kicks in and hammers you back down.

@Backdraft - Almost identical, im off sick this afternoon so Ive got laptop on anayltics while watching TV . Users on site has gone from 20-30 at one time to 4 and has not gone over that for 2 hours nearly now.

I predict later in the evening im well below daily traffic and ill get a 2 hour surge to make up for this.

Edit - A massive 8 people in the last 30 minutes. Looking at this would normally mean a server issue. Nope all green.

I went outside to garden for a while...came back and saw it had jumped to 60, now at 4 and holding. Trouble is, none of it is converting so it's bots.

Backdraft,

I personally stopped using cloudflare. Every time I used it, I lost traffic and rankings. I don't have a clue why. I just bit the bullet and paid for a cdn.

@tt - it has not adversely affected my traffic, but if you're looking at sever logs, it may appear so. Of course that's just the CDN doing it's thing. I do pay for CF, on the Pro plan. My big thing is to reduce traffic from "bad" geographical locations and the possibility of negative seo from afar...which is where it usually comes from. I'm evaluating their service, so the jury is still out on whether or not I keep using them.

So Matt Cut has tweeted, "Multi-week rollout going on now, from next week all all the way to the week after July 4th." I hope this helps the pathetic amounts of traffic I have been receiving the last month and a half.

Heres the link [searchengineland.com...] and [twitter.com...] for the google refresh but the tweet Matt Cutts left dont make sense "Multi-week rollout going on now, from next week all all the way to the week after July 4th" Does this mean the refresh started now or is it starting next week?

I don't think this has anything to do with Panda either. Has anyone noticed any panda like movements?

I hope this is going to do something about the number of hacked website links that have become a huge problem. Surprisingly the sites that are utilizing this method are all top five in Google, but no where to be found in Bing.

I have seen a lot of generic terms drop for smaller sites, I suspect this is going to be a very long and painful update.

I'm seeing around a 50% increase in Google traffic on my Penguinized and possibly Pandalyzed website.

My panda-hit site has been on a roller coaster ride in the SERPS for a couple of days now.

Roller coaster for rankings and/or referral #'s?

It's just too bad we can't back charge Google for the loss of business while they tinker some more. A big goose egg in traffic over the past hour. I personally think the only thing they are tuning for is maximum daily profits.

They make a Kings ransom per day, while we can't even manage a living wage anymore.

Both. Traffic to the site has been up and down hourly and daily. And the SERPS are fluctuating before my eyes. I'm seeing movement while paginating through the results. A result I saw on page 1 will suddenly appear again on page 3. I know this happens sometimes but it seems to really be dialed up today. Lots of oddities.

Oh, and normally I see several Pinterest results on page 1 for many of our keywords. Not seeing ANY Pinterest on page one for the terms I've looked at where I know they normally are.

SERPS in my niche are very odd right now. Search terms that are obviously of commericial intent (buy widget), are returning almost no ecommerce sites. Results are wikipedia, flickr image galleries, manufacturer websites (info only, no way to buy), etc.

The only two results where you can actually buy something are (big surprise) amazon and ebay.

from what I'm seeing in the serps, they just renewed their contracts with demand media and other content farm sweet hearts - same bunch for every term.

Just noticed - new design for SERP ?

Title
URL
line 1 text from on page followed by.... then
line 2 text from page followed by .. and then
line 3 more text from page.. then another
line 4 text from page.. on widget thingy

In total 4 lines under the URL. Is this new ? or did I miss something.
