Has anyone affected by the June 8th issue seen any ranking changes in the past 48 hours?
I'm wondering if things are settled, and we're looking at the "new normal".

So there is still movement for me but the other listings for that phrase have remained fixed over the last few days.
What the heck is going on. There are some sites that are clearly spammer sites ranking way above me. It is unfortunate that probably Google has discounted some of my IBL, I used videos to drive traffic in the past so I had lots of IBL from video sites, plus I have a network with some site wide links, not sure if Google discounted those too.
But in my G webmaster account I have over 500 IBL. I dont know when it has gotten to the dust settling stage. I have hired someone to start building up good IBL, but I have left them on pause until I think the dance is over then start to try and get back some rankings.
Could this be caused by a large sudden influx of new links found in swf resources?

Many links in swf that didn't count for a "pagerank vote" may now pass pagerank. This adds new outgoing links to the link graph of a page, while decreasing the pagerank value passed for existing links on a page. Think of how many pages on the web use flash...at a global level...they could potentially all be having their pagerank value passed being changed in small ways.
For a very competitive phrase, links may contribute (directly or indirectly) as much as 50% to 70% of reason for a top placement. That being the case, small changes in pagerank at a global level (think billion pages) could potentially affect ranking for any site where links quantity/quality are borderline. Pagerank changes in sites 10 links away from you could be affecting your ranking as the PR flows through.
Of course, this is an educated guess at a root cause, and I have no firm data to support this theory. However, I do have a solid understanding of PageRank calculation and distribution, having written my own crawler and pagerank calculation in the past....and to me, this seems like a possible root cause.
1. Google has publically announced they "just added" new indexing support of external resource files from swf. Post date: Thursday, June 18, 2009
2. Links are potentially contained and indexed from in the newly loaded files.
3. General consensus here seems to be the behavior seems to be link related.
Please shoot holes in my theory.
It's so strange because only a certain few of my keyword rankings is affected, yet others have stayed put. I mean, I haven't done more or less work with the pages that have dropped than the others that have not, so I'm pretty baffled by this dramatic fluctuation. I've seen these particular rankings fluctuate before, but only for about a week or so. It's been almost a month now and I'm afraid this is not going to stop. Also, when my rankings are in the dropped positions, a lot of junk sites are in the first two pages. One in particular is a single page with one backlink and one outbound link that goes to a shopping site like shopzilla. I also see blog posts on the 1st page from a blog that isn't even updated anymore.
The SERPs for my keywords are just ugly looking.
could that suggest these SERP changes are not a penalty? or perhaps a sign of how unimportant pagerank is.
im away this weekend, it will do me good to get my mind off this for a few days.
Interesting that the results were exported for some websites, and not others.

I'm wondering if Google.co.uk is being used as a test bed. A few weeks ago we had the mini site links that now seem to have gone. Now I'm noticing one or two sites that come at #1 with a local map for products that have a national spread. One in particular I would not expect to be at #1 for the particular term, after analysis of their pages and backlinks, but they do operate within the niche and would rightfully be #1 for semantically similar terms.
I can't find this site on Google.com in the top 100 for the term that they are #1 with a local map on Google.co.uk.
It almost looks like they bought the space.
Am I missing something?

I see that today my site is suddenly going up and I see that in the Google analitics. Yesterday, thursday I had 152 visits from google (56.93%), today I have 450 (85.07%) visits from G. and it's still 20.15. I'll let you guys know what's up tommorow.
I did not send any reconsideration requests, I just removed some of the forum signatures and 2 of the affiliate sites on my page. I also removed my second Adsense window and some of the exchange links with other sites and blogs.
Notice how theres no mention of it either, at a guess i would say they are testing this out on the QT.

It looks like, and i might be wrong (interested in other feedback) that inbound links from perhaps lower grade sites / blogs etc now give a big negative signal to a website.
I conclude this because i see low value websites with a handful of inbound links out ranking the real authority sites that have a higher number of links but have also attracted some low grade links along the way in their back link mix.
The recent green bar update also downgraded some PR on a volume of good sites whilst increasing PR on some junk sites that didnt deserve it!
Hence, if G had a negative value set for the poor links established sites pick up, it could dilute the quality sites out of existance whilst the dross ranks superb that hasnt got this issue.
At a guess they are probably bashing directory sites and suspected paid links again along with any site that lists in them, but the problem they face is that sites need to promote themselves outside of G. G is not the internet, only a part of it and an authority will promote their site where they can, but it looks like many quality sites have been hit as a result.
currently, the bad news for G is that bing without this kind of algo twist is now returning better serps which pains me to say because im no fan of msn, its always been a bag of nails, but G serps in some classes are now plain dire due to good sites being hit with everything from +30, +40, +60, +950, word blocks you name it!
The other issue i notice is that the UK serps have bits of non relevent US sites in various search results in the listing, its like they have some kind of geo location issue to boot on top of this.

This time, they really goosed the pooch and for me, it was the last straw. I've been converted from a hard core Google fan for the last 10 years, to not being able to stand them anymore because I'm sick and tired of their BS. For example, Matts video post saying there is no such thing as a over optimization penalty... Really, I guess Santa Claus is real after all and Google really holds true to their pre-public day mantra "Do no evil". LOL

This was mentioned in another thread [webmasterworld.com] - site: operator searches on Google Images were showing no numbers. But for many of us the numbers have now returned.

I can't place any guess other than links or a filter.
my thoughts now on the changes google may have made are:
1) they penalise sites with timed out / slow pages now.
2) they take a much stricter view of your link neighbourhood. I have removed some social profile backlinks from sites that were starting to get a lot of spammy profiles.
3) its nothing and things will be back to normal soon.
c41lum - I do not see any real changes with the keywords I am monitoring.
