Google PR Update - some unexpectedly high/low PR is being reported

I've had a number of pages go grey bar. There should be no penalty. But all the grey bar pages are also deindexed.

Maybe we can find explanation for the recent odd behaviour of Google PageRank somewhere in an already published document.

For what it is worth, I just noticed that the home page of the Washington Post online edition displaye a toolbar PR 3 a moment ago -- it's usually 8 or 9 (I can't recall which). An obvious anomaly, but interesting to see.

well one thing that I notice is that there is only home page rank update. I considered the sites for which home page rank has been changed from 0 to 4,5 or from 2 to 6 but there is no internal page rank update. All internal pages are still displaying page rank 0.

I understand that the page rank update process is still continue and it will take more time to end. Also there will be another change as per internal pages theme and relevancy to the main pages?

But one thing is still unanswered for me If there is only home page rank update? because I noticed good page rank change in 2 internal pages but not for the home page for one of my site. Internal pages rank is higher than the home page, why?

what i see in several examples is:

sites that have previuosly had high pr but its been lowered after links fliters were added by google..they now show that if you added deep index pages..eg. domain/directory/index..then those deep index pages are geeting pr that equates to the former pr of the domain...could it be that:

1: new pr update is simply wrong:
2: new pr update is based on a score lacking filters and algos applied to former pr updates
3: mozzila pr is not the same as the pure voting pr of old googlebot. Could it be that other factors are now scored into the pr equation. And only certain pages of sites currently reflect the new scoring.
4: mozilla pr goes back to a time when toolbar pr reflected a guessed score prior to true pr being calculated.

The last bit of that is spot on. Whether it has new scoring factors is unclear (it might be better at finding and following links than the old Googlebot) - I would have thought it is still largely a voting type figure though.

looking at older sites the new pr seems to reflect pr from that sites heyday rather than current. So it wouldnt be a case of finding links that old googlebot never saw. It would be a case of including them when old googlebot decided to dump them.

Check all your outgoing links on your site and make sure one or more hasn't been bought up by a poooonnnnoooo or other such site. This can cause any page with such links to have PR grayed out.

Also check for hijackers in the inurl command in Google. visually check every one to see if it redirects and check with a server header checker looking for 302 redirects which tells the search engine your data now belongs to the other site.

did it all. everything checks out OK. This seems to be another Big Daddy hiccup that is just now hitting my sector. It seems this deindexing of pages started out among the high serps sectors such as hotels and travel...50 million return searches...and now is bleeding down on the smaller sectors. My keyword returns are generally in the 3 mil and less range.
I have seen some reports in this forum about some (hit at the beginning of BD)are starting to get pages back and others, like me are just now losing them.
I'd like to repeat what one person said as a subject title of a thread here. "Google, When are you coming out of Beta?" Amen.

I just hopped on to see if anyone was seeing a PR update. I'm exciting to report that on my most popular site the second level pages all went from a PR4 to a PR5 and third level pages went from PR3 to PR4. Also new pages that were seeing 0PR now have ranks. How exciting.

I've got a large site and my homepage is PR6, my other pages were PR0 to PR5. Clean pages, no cheating. After PR update my homepage is still PR6 but my other pages now have PR0.

My homepage and pages are still getting traffic from google and thereby are listed.

Should i worry or will PR on the other pages come back and is this just a flux in the google PR thing?

My brand new site which was uploaded 2 months ago, got PR - 6 and i am concerned abt the stability of this PR with my site. I haven't done any unethical tech's but still m concerned abt it. How can i get whether it is genuine or not?

We used to be a 5 and have actually been cleaning up our page linking (some of our links had changed from the original realtor's sites to spam sites) Our site offers real estate license exam help <snip>. Now we are a 4 and even worse have been getting smacked around with this new google dance (it is more of a mosh). How can us cleaning up our links get us a lower page rank and what can we do to improve?

I have a site that has been banned from google for over a year and it suddenly has a PR4?

The site is still nowhere to be found in google? How does this work? I have never seen a banned site recieve PR.
