Good morning Folks

It isn't only a passion but also discipline to observe, analyze and posting remarks about the DCs in general or specific DCs in particular. And patience and focus is the name of the game.

Mostly we are seeking predictions about how tomorrow serps might look like.

And as you might have noticed, watching Google datacenters is a very educating process. Take a look at some posts on this thread and you shall see important topics as canonical issues, supplemental issues, 301 redirect etc. explained in details.

In fact this thread reflects the huge high quality resources this great WebmasterWorld community has.

Keep those great observations, analysis and remarks coming ;-)

Keep up the good work reseller, yesterday I checked in on the thread, grabbed one of the live ips you listed, checked my keywords, and away I went, talk about saving me some time.

Thanks for your efforts in this area, you're providing a useful resource to webmasters who want to check up on their sites on new datacenters just to get an idea of where they stand. And mods, thanks for keeping this thread on topic.

Personally, I'm liking what I see on the big daddy dcs, everything is strong, very little change for the sites I do, except some upward movements, which just confirms what I believe about updates and rankings and my sites.

I'm going to start bleaching my hats to make sure that any gray in them will be turned to white.

Hey hey! I'm starting to see bigdaddy results on Google.ca, but Google.com keeps on coming up as the older set of results.

Anybody think they are starting to phase in the new results?

Edit: After 15 minutes of seeing bigdaddy results and posting here, Google.ca is now showing old results again!

I see the DCs boiling at the moment. There are all kind of serps for my testing keyphrases. Early to make anything out of it. It could be the usual heavy reshuffling. However, those of you whos sites have been affected by previous 2005 updates may wish to take a look. Not sure, but you might notice something.

And lets have BigDaddy DCs in place ;-)

I don't like what I'm seeing on Set I. For one of my domains, I get only 1 url-only result on a site:domain.com query. The site has a 301 from www.domain.com to domain.com. That 301 has been in place since October. Jagger had it right, but this seems to be a reversal of that. The one result that shows up is "www.domain.com". All of the thousands of pages on the site (on the non-www domain.com) are gone from the index on this DC. This is not good.

I think we're nearly there now. I've just noticed the "sf giants" Big Daddy pages on AOL.co.uk ... Always been a sure sign in the past ... usually happens the day before a big update.

This update is a joke. I did a search for #*$! real estate and got 15 directories out of 20 results. All the realtors have been penalized.

There's nothing to stop you building your own directory and giving your own company pride of place. You could build a country wide directory, cherry pick the area's you want to monopolise and then sell the other pages to companies who want what's left. It's quite widely done.

while since I last checked but see the duplicate filters that were missing last time I checked have now been applied so think most of the filters are in place

think we will live with these results until presidents day
Maybe big shake up of serps round about 16th - 20th Feb

anybody have a feeling if these results reflect PR update
or have many with canoncal problems just had what "looks like fix applied" but PR between internal site pages not correct

The drawback of all this is it will make it rather difficult to notice any algos update if it will happen at the same time as BigDaddy on the move.

I just want all of my pr 2 and 3 articles to come out of the supplimental index. It makes me weary to sit on the sidelines for months creating unique original content that will probably go supplemental.

If I get my pages back, I will first crap my pants - then I will go buy some gold leaf toilet paper to clean up the mess.

There is seriously something major going on at google and that I mean. There are no page caches either for any sites, most DC's were definitely showing BD for 15 minutes.

I have a search term where all but 2 results are supplemental results that should not be there (old duplicates, or unresolved 301 redirects, etc).

This search has returned the same number of results for many months. Only 2 of the pages are "real" results. The rest should not be there.

The count using &filter=0 has been 21 for a while, then a few days it dropped, giving 12 or 15 or 18 or whatever, changing with each refresh.

A few days ago I took the &filter=0 parameter off the search, and noticed that the results were 1 to 17 of about 35, and that "of about" count has slowly risen, to 48 last night, 56 this morning, 62 earlier this evening, etc.

I just had a play with the search. I hit refresh and the count went up by 4. I took the &sa=N parameter off and it went up by another 4. I took the &hl=en parameter off and it went up by another 4. I hit refresh and it went up another 4, then again: another 4, then again.

I started at about 1 to 17 of about 70 and after hitting refresh multiple times, it had reached 1 to 17 of about 258 - yes, really "258"! Sometimes several refreshes were needed to increment the count: but it always went UP, and always by 4 each time that it changed.

A few more refreshes and we are up to 330 already. IP is 66.249.93.104, but accessed as www.google.co.uk.

A few more refreshes and the count is up to 402. I copied the search URL out of Mozilla and pasted it into IE, and the result: 406! A few more refreshes and the count is up to 448.

One more refresh and a jump to 418, and then upwards 4 at a time again.

Methinks this is a BUG.

Passed 530 and still going UP!

There are about 10 dc's carrying BD right now. And have been since early this morning at least.

I concur - I saw BD on several servers at certain points in time today. I could probably pinpoint them easily by looking at the HUGE statistical spikes in uniques throughout the day.... ahhh memories of pre-jagger, what a wonderful world it was.
