"Celebrating" Allegra Update Anniversary Day

Life on Google DCs is much more wonderful than you will ever think :-)
Approaching February 2006, I feel like it just happened yesterday or last week or last month. I'm talking about that Allegra update which changed the map of Google serps once and for all on 2nd February 2005.
I recall loosing 75% of my Google's referrals at that black cold February day. Then the sad stories of other fellow members started to appeare on the threads.
IMO, Allegra was a turning point of the relation between the SEO's specialists and Google. Since then Google carried out an undeclared war against what most SEO's were making living of. Some wise SEO's understood at once the situation and started to adapt and deal with the new environment. Others kept dreaming about the return of the good old Google Dance days.
February is a good time for "savage" Google's updates. Better you keep your eyes opened and watch closely whats taking place on the DCs. And keep your focus on small and big changes on DCs such as

And lets be wise and forget all about the Smoke and Mirrors of a BigDaddy or a BigMammy :-)

Yesterday, I did a site:www.mydomain.com in the "main" Google, and it turned up nothing. Then I'll see about 1/2 of our previous results. And so on.
The other datacenters show results for us that are very much like our previous ones.
Things are really roiling and boiling right now.
We never did fix the www and non-www problem. I do have to wonder if they are trying to contend with that now.
When I check the datacenters posted here, and for the most part it shows pre-"whatever this is" results.
Is anyone else feeling the ill effects of all this? Or is it all academic, all in the datacenters yet?
I do, but I'm confident that this low count (about half) will never stick. The site is very clean and Google spiders it frequently (and deeply).
Yep - uk internet sales were up by 34% this Christmas and ours were down by 75%. Thank you G - we actually have had more traffic this month than in the whole of december!
Thats what I would hope too, but I don't see why lots of pages have been removed for no reason. Oh well, only time will tell!
I am trying to turn off my email notification of replies for this thread ... Is there another way to back out of all these emails?

When I say they have trashed my site, I am not talking about my rank in the serps. I am talking about not being able to properly index a static 30 page html site with a proper 301 in place for months. No drop down menus. I have even added a spidermap...have a sitemap...they can't do it in Big Duddy. And that is not a misspell.
Situation normal all googled up.
My site is almost fine in the old index. Certainly better than in Big Duddy.

And that is the problem. Identifying a correct page as canonical is just a small, even tiny, part of canonical problems. www.example.com might always have been seen as a canonical page, but so is www.example.com/index.php. As long as the pages are scored separtely, that is a canonical problem. Just because canonical www.example.com outranks canonical www.example.com/index.php, that isn't anything canonicalization-relevant. It's just one page outranking another.

No new info and I thought overture invented ppc rather than google.... anybody?
Whats more, the programme was unbiased and went into the past, the present, and the future, with an insight into possible hurdles that may appear as Google enters new horizons.
Regarding PPC, yes Yahoo started with it, but Google has developed it into a far more adaptable advertising media, with no minimum PPC charges, no waiting for adverts to be displayed, and their AdWords User panel is up to date, unlike Yahoo's which always seems a day or two behind.
We are the ones that have elevated it to such an important part of our lives. I have a SOLD board outside of my house and my business this week, just 1 week after hanging up my internet spurs & I love the feeling of freedom it gives me.
Anyone who thinks that google is really the driving force on the Internet today is misguided ... google is your main competitor, not your friend or partner.

Have some spirit, you say! Spirit for what - to condemn Google? No way, I'm afraid. They are successful, established and do a great job for the majority of both the public and business.
They are certainly not my enemy, as if I were to ever decide on relying on them for my business, and it didn't work out how I wanted, who would I blame - Google or myself?

To use the same famous terms of the kind GoogleGuy;
I wouldn't be surprised if the folks at the plex shall proceed with Set-II, and there we shall also see indications of possible changes including next update sometime in next month february 2006.
If you are already doing well on Set-II (called at the plex reseller's DCs :-)), lucky you. For the rest, don't lose hope. Things might change once we approach the update.
