Over and done with?

All done all through?

Here is a snip from an article in a popular, rather large name, newsletter which article appeared today.

It talks about the Jagger updates.

Does this make sense to anyone?

How do you “extract your site from link farms and other low quality sites”?

There is a lot more in this article.

Begin Snip

As for the "other" category, your site's overall health can quickly be determined by the sheer volume of low-quality links connecting to your site. For example, if you audit 1,000 links into your site and 700 of the links are from internal, paid, solicited, or relational links, it's pretty safe to say the latest algorithmic updates aren't the reason your site lost positioning.

However, if the "other" category accounts for over 70 percent of the links into your site, you probably had some link extraction work to do if you want to keep your search results robust. And it's relatively important to extract your site from link farms and other poor quality sites while you build credible links into your site.

End snip

"if you audit 1,000 links into your site and 700 of the links are from internal, paid, solicited, or relational links"

Sounds like crap to me. The terminology is even wrong.

Well I guess it makes some sense, but the recommendations are nuts. I am included in 100s of scraper and other directories.

They could careless if I want to be in their sites. I would not even think about wasting my time asking them to remove me. No way this is hurting my rankings unless I mistakenly link back to one of them.

<zammo
'website promotion company' in Google.co.uk, pops up in the SERPS at numero 7 (Tesco.com!)>

I had a look at this and checked the page out, of course it ranks number 7, it has the words "10% off promotion" - priceless.

Im seeing to much of these junk results.

Day off needed.

The day off is a good idea. Sometimes typing for 18 hours just can't help :)

re anybody.

Took one day off. No Google, no serps. Nice day.

This morning I see better results on good ole Jagger-3-DCs. Not as good as last weekend but I can see some pages returning (again).

Are there any signs, the update could be over?

If you are relatively popular loads of cr@p link directories start linking to you and you can't do anything about it.. I tried to get some Indian guy taking off his links.. you could as well write to Santa Claus ..

I use 301 as it says on the box MOVED PERMANENTLY.

Just apply as it says on the box .. erase old index new problem sorted.

But what do I find on a search term we rank 1st. Some age old page in supplemental ranks first then the actual page. Yes they are the same as I just changed the directory structure to something that looked nicer to the human eye. Before google ranked the actual page 1st after J3 it's the other way around .. This is not an improvement lol.

No comment really .. 4/5 traffic loss .. I even made a server just 301ing example.com www.example.com since J1 and J2 passed with no effect I assume I am penalised for some 301 or so.. if J3 was canonical .. and canonical means this 301 issue.

httpd codes make sense ... use them G...
