Anyone have any guesses as to when we can expect a new systemwide PR update?

Dayo_UK, yes, sometimes it can mean flux within a data center. It's a bit involved, so I'll leave it at a high level. :)

Damn - you go make a cup of tea and miss Googleguy again!

Googleguy...

If you're still around, please, please can you put me out of my misery (I'm begging). A 'related:' search on any page on my site now returns 'no matching documents' when it has worked for over 4 years? Plus many of my pages have gone supplemental (url only) for no apparent reason. It's a clean site, but is this a penalty or bad crawl?

Disappointing to see spam filters seemingly gone entirely, as well as another devaluation of authority. I hate to say it, but this has the look of "all anchor text all the time", which is sure not a good thing.

(And of course basically no improvement in terms of lost sites. Just saw the GG post below, so perhaps this part shouldn't be a concern.)

Tough being an optimist these days...

McMohan, if you see spam, I'd report it now with jagger2. If it's canonicalization or ranking or supplemental, I might hold off to see how jagger3 looks for you.

Yes, there's definetely something up, missing, or wrong with anchor text, I've noticed that since day 1.

I just hope this sorts itself out because my pride and joy is in the boondocks!

Later!

Steveb

Well I am not going to really comment on the DC until a day or two - as per MC and GG indication that the DC may be in flux for a while.

Re: Lost sites.

Hopefully Stage 3 - otherwise end of Webmastering for me (probably) :(

Zeus.

I am 99.99% sure it is Canonical url problem - but the issues are probably all linked together. And whatever name you call it I think Google now have an idea what is at least being talked about.

Just saw GG post too ;) - lol we are an impatient lot.

Hmm I see a change in link back again, thats the first time I have seen 2 changes in a update, BUT it could also just be my site, any one else see a change in link back for the secound time.

I now looked through some of the link backs, I see some of the added links are scrapers, thats sad.

steveb, I think I know the spam sites that you're talking about. Folks here enjoyed looking into those. It's always interesting to see how the pendulum moves between some of the shortcuts that people try.
