How about this one.
I´m predicting herewith that my site which has lost almost all its Google´s referrals, during Allegra and later on 22nd July) will be again on top of the serps sometime between now and December 2005 (the date mentioned by GoogleGuy) ;-)
This has been happening for a long while - would love some feedback from G on this - did send an email - no reply :(
However, when I have seen it happen the home pages do come back.
Very very strange.
With Yahoo on the frits Im starting to get an impact from some of this as far as traffic goes.
Some of the grey bared home pages still showing in serps, so you can click on the site cache in the serp and get a Sep 4 cache, however when you go to the site and do a cache it shows nothing. No Cache. Weird. My guess they are rolling a index out or something and its not across all data centers yet, hence when you check the serp, you get the cache on that data center, then when your at the site and use toolbar you check cache(goes to different datacenter) and no cache.

I'll give you a dollar if you're right on this one =)
Just having some fun with you on the other one - you keep making me check, and what do I get? Same ol junk in my niche... Wish I could join the watching, but don't have time to monitor extra niches.

On a related note, I know that popular opinion is that the backlinks displayed as a result of this search are pretty much meaningless. But what does it mean when you go from over 600 backlinks to a single link (the current backlink update shows my site with only a single backlink)? My SERPs haven't changed much, but the backlinks sure have.
Any ideas?
Question for the more seasoned SEO's:
Has Google in past history ever done a PR, BL and ALGO change all in the same week? Doesn't seem likely but I was curious.
according to one source I watch, this (along with a G. directory update) occured on Apr 22, 05, i.e., Bourbon.
Re what is happening, I just checked 30 sites I manage (all in different niches and ages) and am only seeing a backlink update on the following data centers:
72.14.207.99
72.14.207.104
72.14.207.106
Some backlinks increased on those sites I have been actively gathering links for and down, or the same, on others with no link gathering going on.
No PR changes.
The site was registered on the first day of July and populated during August.
All five pages are internal, the index page is not among them (allthough it's linked from every single page on the site). These five pages don't even have that many internal links within tha page.
They are all reached 2 levels down from the index page. However all five can be reached following several different paths.
Weird. The only possible solution that I can see seems to be found in the fact that these five pages each contain an outgoing link to one of five different PR 6+ sites...
I had a website go from 60 backlinks to 4000+ for a month. It meant nothing -no extra traffic from Google. It's only where you appear in the SERPS that matters! There's some poor bloke in the depths of the Googleplex (in a side room just by the air conditioning units) whose job it is to update this meaningless count for webmasters. Google figured out long ago that the people who create websites are the enemy to good search results.
So aren't we talking about Algo shifts? And if so, I guess they can happen at arbitrary times whenever google feels like it, and not necessarily in the pattern of PR/BL updates first/last, etc. Correct me if I'm definitely wrong!
at least what i see here is that they do some extreme change, wait for forum feedback.
if SEO's are really annoyed then keep the change.
if SEO's are happy then return to the drawing board.
(no i'm not a BASIC programmer, notice i said RETURN and not GO TO the drawing board)
and why is it so hard for some of you to see this?
REAL pros are always vewy vewy quiet. sssshhhhhhh
