New PR and Backlinks Update - July 13

Is everyone seeing the new Page rank? All my sites have been affected. After looking at all 60 of my sites, almost 50% have went down 1, 30% have increased 1. 10% went to 0 and about 10 raised more then.

New page rank? Interesting title for a thread when viewing PR is a lot like checking out the fossils in the museum. New Page Rank is practically a misnomer. Yeah, I know what's meant but it's just the wrong way to describe it.

I still feel like we've been thrown some pennies to distract us.

Ironic that G's PR (pagerank) scam err. marketing may be the issue that gets them sued.

I do a weekday newsletter/digest on my site. The PR is showing for the June 9 - 11 (a weekend edition) which was posted early on the 9th. No PR is showing after that date.

Also, all new pages are showing a PR6 which is not correct for my site (the newsletters should be a PR3-4 on my site). The last update did this also.

I hope this info is helpful to someone.

Right on target. Maybe others have been affected NOW but from what I see...nothing really changed serps wise as they should have changed for us given we previously had PR 0's across everything but our home page until now. We did experience a little bump some time ago which looked as if we got some rank back while nothing other than PR 0's was displayed across the site. Too me this is just a display of something that actually occured in the recent past.

There are some other issues we need to clear up in order to see us climb in the results to more "natural" positions. Right now it is nice to confirm what we suspected as well as bring new hope for our business.

I did run across GoogleGuy, so there is a good chance he is listening in. Maybe he could clarify for us that this is in fact new or just a display.

same boat here Arubicus for 2 of my sites ,all got PR now site wise but no change in SERPS.I expect though to see huge SERPS changes by next week as MC mention in his blog about a new data refresh in the next couple of weeks.The PR and backlink update must be one of the first steps to a real update. At the moment many key word combinations or phrases bring up really weird results ,absolutely unrelated ,especially in local Google's.

I think the data refresh will be either just a refresh only or it will also include a PR and/or BL update again but NOT related to what we are seeing now and it won't be visible.

Our homepage finally went to #1 for our unique domain name early this year. Later we seen PR update to a PR of 5. But was some time after this happened. Later still we seen some pages actually start to rank for terms but the toolbar said a big fat 0. With a PR of 0 we shouldn't have ranked at all. Now we can see why we started to rank with this visible PR update.

From what i see on my site another strange PR Update of some kind. Homepage stayed some on 4 along other pages on 3. All my new pages i added have got a 4. Also noticing a backlink update. My links have jumped

I see an update too. New pages got pagerank and the old ones stayed at the same level.

Has this this new pagerank affected the serps yet or are they planning to include it in the algo?

In my experince, after the PR update there always was a re-calculation os serps.

I see no change in my sites PR. I'm not bothered either because IMHO PR ceased to have any bearing on the serps a long time ago. I have a PR7 site which hardly scratches the top ten and I've a PR3 which cleans up in very competitive markets, so no lost sleep here :-)

some of my sites which had backlink around 900 is showing 400 and 300 right now...

Yeah, I have plenty of old inner pages still with PR0, but what's really amazing - my home page is PR7, I have some inner pages with PR7 and a page with PR8 - and yet I am still in the sandbox!?! Does this make sence?

Yes, there was indeed a PR "change" on Jul 13th. Our pages that already had page rank stayed the same, some pages that had 0 are now 5 or 6. Weird, seems to have only affected pages that did NOT have a page rank already. Anyone else have page ranks that HAD ranking already change?

Some of the other posters in here are right, the new page rank did NOT change our positions at all. I have one site with a PR 4 and it is TOP across ALL terms and one with PR 6 that comes up #33, etc.

The only changes I have seen are pages that have a cache date of July 1st or better, my older cached pages have not changed but googlebot has been crawling the site the past few days. I have a feeling as some of the pages are refreshed the changes are going in.

Starts at the high pr pages, 10,9,8 etc... and works its way down.

I have seen a large increase in the backlinks they are showing for a couple of sites I manage. Plus, I received google alerts for new back links.

The only pages that had updates for me, were the pages that had 0 PR to begin with.

Perhaps G is re-calculating all inner pages, then possibly a BL update, home page PR update... then a final SERPS adjustment?

Similar pages have also changed (and disappeared like when they have Canonical issues) for some sites.

Old sites stayed the same.

New site (39 days) got PR3. It's a start!

Ok, I think we are all in agreement then, this has only been on the pages that had no PR to begin with. I'll be glad to see what the changes are to my 4/10 homepage on one site that is AWESOME in serps. Hm, let's just say, this is interesting to watch!

No, my pages went from pr6 to pr7 and pr8, also only part of my PR0 pages went to PR6 - the rest of them still stay at PR0.
I have a few other websites with the simillar experience.
And my best ranking site - no PR changes, or it might, but it has not propagated across all DCs yet...

Some old pages have indeed updated for me, but no updates on pages which were assigned PR on Feb 18.

My site has a very clear demonstation of the BD PR problem. I'll explain it here in case the Google people care to follow what's going on...

--My site went live in Nov. 2005.

--On the Feb 2006 PR update (the last pre BD update). My hompepage was assigned a PR2 and second level were assigned PR1. This seemed fair as at that time I really hadn't started a full scale link building campaign. So all was good...

--The April 4 2006 update is when things got ugly (just happens to be the first BD update?). All of my new pages were assigned rank, which seemed to be grossly inflated. PR4 and PR5 were all over my site. Problem was the original PR2 homepage and PR1 second level pages PR did not change, even though new second level pages very similar to the old now had PR5. So I bitched... and waited...

--The July 13 PR update seems to have corrected my grossly overinflated ranks on innner pages... But the PR2 homepage and original PR1 second level pages still linger.

In summary, there is no way my site is a PR2. It's full of great content, I have a significant number of quality inbounds, I have no link exchange spam going on and Matt Cutts himself has told me there is 'absolutely' no penalty in place. He said the reason for my problem getting pages indexed and non supplemental was solely due to PR. I now feel like i'm in a 9 month endless loop. Google is broke!

I noticed the same as on previous "update" in April - my pages with tPR didn't change, while new pages with tPR0 started showing tPR. Still no changes for old pages until February.

The PR has stopped making any sense. It is indeed upading, but my forum page which has plenty of content, and an 'ok' number of users, lost its PR while my contact page which has one line of text, and an email address kept its PR.

Screwey if you ask me. :)
