We have just had our backward links updated. Has the newest cycle begun? Anyone else noticing this and what is the timetable for update "next allegry medication" name?

rfgdxm1:
I'm seeing what could be called a minor update, or some serious flux. The problem is that we don't have the monthly Google dances of days gone by. There is no agreed upon term for these minor updates today.

Apparently there is some factor that backlinks play when computing a site's position, and BL updates only occur about once a month (the last one was Feb 3). So a "minor update" will likely happen whenever they do a backlink update (and also quarterly PR updates).

One of my site was badly hit by the Allegra update, 50-60% drop. As of today, it has gone up back to pre-Allegra stage. So there is definitely an update going on.

Toolbar has started working sporadically; often a sign something's afoot.

We can all agree to something is goin on, but we should try to stick to as much facts as we can and less of the me too's. These threads are great for a heads up and im sure we all get something from them.

So please when posting it would be great if you can tell us:

- where your based and where your host is based.
- data center IP's.
- How many results returned for the keyword you watch. (this is handy)
- and any other information you find relevant.

thanks

This would tend to explain a lot of what I see.

I have now seen a 4th backlink count for one site and some movement (thankfully upward). So I would say it is at least a minor update.

This is one of the biggest jumps for my website to date...

- Links increased by 50%
- Up from 27th to 19th in the directory

Now if the sand wasn't so deep...

I have a site that is showing a DECREASE in backlinks, an INCREASE in pr(from 4 to 5), and no cached snapshot.

My other sites are showing an increase in backlinks.

Before you go nuts about new backlinks, think about this, many of those are from scrapers, which I HOPE google will remove by time, so I would call those temp. links.

Wow, one of my sites has returned to the front page. For years it was number one, then it dropped to 3rd. Then somewhere between the 13th - 22nd of January it vanished to the lower depths of the SERPS.

Today it is 4th (Just below a page that mysteriously appeared in place of mine in position 3)

Still no sign of my other site that disappeared from the top ranking at around the same time.

yep. I am back to. About the same place as I was before feb the 6th. Came back in last 2 days for a few minutes only...got a couple of referals and then was out again. So far been back in for 4 hours and referals have returned to previous levels.

well, I'm not in where it matters: on the DCs that actually go into rotation. The Dcs that I'm in (over half of what #*$! has) apparently don't matter.

is it a measure of success when you start finding your site in scrappers more often?

One of my sites is up about 2,000 links... one of my competitors is down by about 5,000.

What does it mean when 'link:' command for a url shows 2,240 links and then when you inquire for the url the result is:

'Google can show you the following information for this URL:

Show Google's cache of www.widgets.mysite
Find web pages that are similar to www.widgets.mysite =29
Find web pages that link to www.widgets.mysite = 93
Find web pages that contain the term "www.widgets.mysite" =11,500

command allinurl = 8,600

MSN BL =986, Yahoo BL=811

Are the actual backlinks only 93? Why only 93
