Backward Links Updated, The Cycle has Begun?

We have just had our backward links updated. Has the newest cycle begun? Anyone else noticing this and what is the timetable for update "next allegry medication" name?

I've read the many threads on the "sandbox issue", but at the time only had sites that were well-established. I put up a new site three weeks ago. All of the pages have been indexed, and the site shows with this backlink update a whole 1 backlink from my index page. I'm buried so far I've quit looking and the links I do have are from what I consider topical and respectable link partners. It will be interesting to see just how long this process takes. I've got a log of dates when certain things entered the index and there is a number of days lag with these results.

Someone also menioned that the PR bar acts irrtatically when something is about to happen. I've noticed this "every" time about 2 days before an update of some sort occurs. I'd say for nearly 1/2 hour about two nights ago many sites, including Google had no PR. I cleaned the cache, history, etc and still had no toolbar. I was about to reinstall when it came back on a more frequent basis.. Just my observations

My site backward link is going down and down with every BL update. Dont know why? In the recent Alegra update...is their any major changes in sites considered for PR calculation? I had done lots of link exchange with relevant sites and still doing...but till now i dint get the desired result i look for.
Anybody having any suggestions?

Not all backlinks show. And no matter how many times this has been said on WW it has to be said again. Not even all the PR4+ are showing like they used to. Now they are completely random and don't mean crap. So the number that show up is useless.

If you want to check your backlinks use a different search engine.

However, I do beleive a backlinks change up does mean an update is coming...

Sites in the Allegra sandbox are back in on many datacenters such as [66.102.7.99...] ... interestingly they are using Dmoz descriptions...

it is a new update over the update ,this morning a competitors site went from #1 to #45.He was at #1 over a year now.Any coments?

I picked up google alerts (link:) for most of my sites late last night

(I always "feel" some type of update / change / whatever you want to call it when I pick these up)

Definitely seeing changes in the SERPs for my top categories. This happened last night. Got bumped off the top spot and I've been there over a year and half.

This is the extended rolling update that we have seen the last several months. I am guessing it will likely continue through the weekend and settle out early next week.

Does anyone have a list of exactly when backlink changes and serp changes have happened before?

I'm seeing meta descriptions for snippets except when there is an indented listing with the same meta description.

that is so stupid on Google's part. One minute (or week, or month) you're #1, the next one you're on page 433 with no major content changes or anything. What are the searchers to make of this?

My vote is for the 'Banana' update.

My site made a brief appearance at #2 after months stuck at #3. Hiccup? I have way more backlinks than #1 and #2 (they have 15, 14, and I have 28), I expect good things to happen.

And bananas are the perfect food.

I'm in shock, total disbelief, one of my sites is suddenly holding several #1 positions after two years of being nowhere.

Searched 19 keyword phrases and worst position is #6 most are 1 2 or 3. I had given up, perhaps that is the key.

Every dog has his day, hope it lasts for more than one day.

I do believe an update is in place for one reason: I am seeing referrals from google.co.in, google.pl, google.de, google.co.uk and google.co.id.

Only happens for me when an update is happening...

We lost 1/3 of our backlinks as did other sites we compete agains. We went from 3k+ to 1100. I dont understand how other increased BL's.

It all depends on the algo. Don't worry, I remember one time I lost 80% of my backlinks but went way up in the SERPS.

Google has been showing misinformation for the backlink command for a year or more. They are trying to throw a monkey wrench into SEO efforts. So ignore what the backlinks are telling you. We are just referring to the fluxing backlinks as evidence that there is a major or minor update in progress.
