Can we expect GoogleGuy to comment on this.

I haven't been following GoogleGuy recently and therefore I am hoping somebody can tell me when was the last time he posted regarding a Google update?

My site is completely vanished from this new set of, but still getting crawled all day today. Am I to assume the site is banned on account of it's not listed in the new rankings, or that it's not banned on account of that it's still getting crawled?

I've following Google for some time and I am very up-to-speed with their technology, but this current circumstances is something I've not seen before.

Has anybody had this happen before (site dissappear but still get crawled)? If so, what happened, and how long was the resolution.

The site in question has about 2000 in-links, had about 9,000 pages indexed, white hat, no downtime or anything server-wise that would cause issues..

Search for my brand name yields people about my products, but the entire brand name website is nowhere in site in these new results.

if it's only a couple of days MIA try not to let it get to you have seen this with couple of my sites in the 12months old arena and they have come back within a week , have a look at other datacentres for cache dates to get an idea of when site was last indexed also look in last months logs for the weird GBOT IP that I believe does nothing more than check for duplicate content ( sorry can't remember IP address ) but have been few posts over the months about it .
then try checking for very specific text from your site on offending datacentre to see if site has been hijacked
just couple of ideas sorry if you have tried already

Our current site which is in the sandbox anyway had one section that ranked at position 380. Now that has vanished tonight!. What a joke.

I had given up with google anyway. I get ZERO referals from Google anyway despite having a content rich site with over 3000 sites that link to it. The SERPS are currently dire in any case.

At least we have Yahoo and MSN to work with. God knows what this current effort from Google is about, but looking at tonights updated results the index is worse than ever!.

Something is screwy. In a search for my domain name I am no where to be found but with the &filter=0 I get number one and then 6 indents. Clean site lots of new content so so on. Well at least I am still getting traffic from some scraper sites I was ahead of.

steve40,

Thank you for your reply. Even though duplicate content should not be an issue, I will hunt down that IP address for that duplicate content check bot (if anyone can point it out that would be great).

Did that other bot happen to use Mozilla in it's user-agent string as well as Googlebot - I did notice some request, which looked legit over the course of the year that used Googlebot, but also Mozilla - like one or 2 sessions every 2 months or something.

Something weird is going on with my site.

Most of my pages are ranked much lower than before (just like what others reported here), but some of them stayed the same.

Anyone noticed this?

FYI, my site was down for 6 hrs on last Friday (January 28th).

Though, most of my pages are dated Feb 1st/2nd.

Do me a favor, search for your domain.com. Is it still retaining a number 1 position or has it dropped as well?

ps: letters on the way to Google about this filter
problem, if enough people write this time, maybe they would get a big ole clue

"And what of us that seem to be taking a big hit? Can you say that we didn't do our share? I've been working on new content for over a year and it's been progressively growing, however Google now wants to let me down, or so it would seem. "

since you chose to take this literally: E-mail Google at webmaster-at-google.com; I personally didn't do anything to your site. Thank you!

I checked a couple data centers and all my keywords seemed to be where they were supposed to be +1/-1 the usual shuffle. The usual gang of idiots still seem to be hovering around my keywords, so I didn't notice anything too radiocal.

However, my keywords dropped of the face of the planet on MSN a week before beta went live. I'm still waiting on the MSIDIOTS to explain that one, and my competitors disappeared as well.

But thats another thread....
