Turn off text highlighting question

I downloaded a script from one of the popular JS sites to highlight search terms. I wanted the incomming SE terms to be highlighted because of a pretty large amount of text on most of this sites pages.

However I can't seem to find a way to let the users turn off this highlighting feature. I tried a button that refreshes the page that didn't work, it yields the same highlighted page. Any way to do this?

This is just a guess, but try navigating to the page instead of just refreshing it.

Can you call the script and instruct is to highlight nothing?
